Job Summary
Job Description:
The Research Assistant will work under the direction of NCPA scientists and engineers to assist with the development, testing, and maintenance of acoustic hardware and software systems. Responsibilities may include supporting embedded system software development, assisting with smartphone application programming used to interface with acoustic sensor arrays, and helping prepare and participate in field testing activities. The role will also support the setup, teardown, and basic maintenance of acoustic sensor system hardware used in outdoor testing environments.
Job Responsibilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred but not required)
- Coursework or hands-on experience with embedded systems or software development
- Familiarity with programming concepts and basic software debugging
- Ability to follow technical direction and work collaboratively in a research environment
- Willingness and ability to participate in outdoor field testing, including equipment setup and teardown
- Interest in physical acoustics or sensor systems preferred
