BASIC PURPOSE:
The primary responsibility of the Telecommunications Engineer II is to design, develop, implement, maintain, and enhance telecommunication networks and unified communication systems to enhance business functions. In addition, this position supports the employees of organization in the areas of all core telephony services, unified communications, unified communications applications, voicemail, call reporting, video calls, vendor management and troubling resolution in each of these areas.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Design, deploy and maintain enterprise telecommunications and unified communication systems.
- Analyzes telecommunication functions of the organization and implements design recommendations.
- Works tickets through our ticketing system in a prompt fashion and communicates action during each step of affected parties.
- Designs, installs, and modifies telecommunications and related equipment according to job order specifications, standards, and procedures.
- Perform installation and testing of new products individually or as part of a team. Leads installations and upgrades of telecommunications systems.
- Develop documentation to support current and to test planned equipment configurations.
- Provides on-the-job training to users or other technical personnel.
- Establishes time and cost estimates. Maintains accurate records of staff hours and materials used.
- Performs daily maintenance checks and ensures proper escalation and resolution to challenges found.
- Provide coordination between Telecommunications, other IT teams and customers.
- Ongoing daily support of one-off voice/data activities.
- As required by changing business needs, complete additional responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field preferred
- Prior experience with large to very large enterprise environments that include multiple site locations.
- IT related certification a plus
- 2+ years’ experience in architecting
