Global Delivery Services refers to EY's worldwide network of service delivery centers. The GDS team plays an important role in EY’s strategy by ensuring effective support to EY’s growth agenda.

The Opportunity
Release Lead at Senior rank
As a Senior Release Lead, you will drive end-to-end release management across complex, enterprise environments, ensuring seamless delivery from planning through deployment and review. You will orchestrate cross-functional teams, manage release calendars, govern risks and dependencies, and lead structured processes such as CAB and readiness reviews.
Leveraging ITSM practices alongside DevOps and CI/CD awareness, you will enable efficient, predictable releases while supporting service transitions, client onboarding, and continuous improvement. This role offers the opportunity to influence release strategy, enhance operational maturity, and deliver high-quality outcomes at scale in a global setting
You will also be participating in Service onboarding, Service Transition, Service operations using ITSM leading practices for products, applications and services delivered at EY.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Plan the release of project deliverables and release life cycle
- Communicate plans, scheduling, timelines, requirements between technology and business teams
- Coordinate the release schedule (Manage Release Calendar) and resources required depending upon the defect backlogs, planned releases, and infrastructure updates and other teams (upstream, downstream and external 3rd party teams)
- Identify the risks that can delay the release and manage them, such that the scope scheduled, and quality of the release is not affected.
- Track the progress and find issues, if any. Always work to improve the process of release.
- Make sure that the release is planned, according to the requirements and budget.
- Schedule the release readiness reviews before deployment and milestone reviews after each release.
- Create plans for the implementation and deployment as per the release schedule.
- Plan and give weekly updates on the release activities
- Make sure the allocation of Release Engineers to every release.
- Communicate with release managers from different IT departments.
- Lead the Go-Live activities to deploy the software successfully.
- Team up with relevant development teams responsible for building the automation tools used to develop and deploy the software.
- Schedule the CAB meetings to discuss the release schedules with the team and find roadblocks, if any.
- Maintain documentation related to procedures on build and release, various notifications lists, and dependencies.
- Make improvements in the methodologies used for configuration management and development of software that helps to find ways to use in configuration management.
- Ensuring that requirements are clear across dependent project streams with a release
- Initiating and overseeing the development of technical guides and training for external functionality
- Managing the development of deliverables into production
- Validating release notes
- Managing the deployment of deliverables to the test environment particularly guaranteeing that external dependent items are available the test runtime
- Conducting PIR (Post Implementation Review)
- Managing Lesson Learned
- Responsible for decision-making, optimizing processes, resource management, and overseeing team management as needed for task execution.
- Accountable for allocating personnel, supervising team members, assigning tasks, ensuring that the team has the necessary tools and support to succeed in their roles and optimizing and evaluating their performance to meet organizational goals.
Skills And Attributes For Success
As a Senior Release Lead (Application release management)
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment
- Experience in coordinating cross-functional work teams up to task completion
- Application Support Knowledge (architecture and dependencies)
- Cross-team coordination across application, infrastructure, and support teams
- Effective stakeholder communication and reporting skills
- Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills; writing, publishing and conference-level presentation skills a plus.
- Structured thinking
- Ability to manage software infrastructure & configurations
- A computer science degree or a similar discipline
- An expert understanding of software development lifecycle
- Experience with ITSM process tools such as ServiceNow (SNOW), BMC Remedy, JIRA, or equivalent tools
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps and GitHub
- Proficiency in MS PowerPoint, Excel and Visio
Ideally, you’ll also
- Hold certifications such as ITIL Foundation (preferred)
- Experience with enterprise applications (Java, .NET, SaaS platforms)
- Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP)
- Understanding of service transition and onboarding processes
- Support operational efficiency and cost optimization initiatives
- Familiarity with global delivery models
- Ability to adapt to dynamic environments
- Contribute to knowledge management and documentation
- Participate in building dashboards and reporting metrics
- Support shift-based or on-call requirements
- Contribute to service transition, delivery governance, and practice development
What We Look For
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
- Strong experience in Release Management within large-scale, multi-tower environments with relevant 6-10 years of experience
- Created product level release strategies or enterprise level release strategies
- Designed yearly release planning cycles
- Strong understanding of Configuration Items, Change management database, CI/CD and DevOps, product and project life cycle, environment management, software currency, test strategies
- Experience supporting 2 release management clients and have participated in service transition or onboarding for 2 clients
- Experience working in multiple industries preferably Insurance/Financial services/Banking domains
- Working knowledge of enterprise applications (Java, .NET, one of the SaaS platforms, SAP, Guidewire, Salesforce, Pega, Mulesoft)
- Working knowledge with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) is preferred
- Navigates and reports through ITSM process tools in SNOW, BMC Remedy or Jira
- Experience in MS Power Point, MS Excel
- Experience in MS Visio
