We are looking for a hands-on Technical Manager to lead a team of engineers building and scaling our web platforms. You will combine strong technical expertise in the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React, Node.js), deep understanding of database design and scalability, and working knowledge of AI/ML integration to guide architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and ensure delivery of robust, high-performing products.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Architect, design, and review scalable, secure, and maintainable full-stack solutions using the MERN stack
- Define coding standards, best practices, and technical guidelines across the team
- Own system architecture decisions for performance, scalability, and reliability
- Conduct code reviews and provide hands-on technical guidance when needed
Database & Scalability
- Design and optimize database schemas (MongoDB and/or relational databases) for performance at scale
- Implement caching, indexing, sharding, and replication strategies
- Plan for horizontal/vertical scaling of platforms handling high traffic and large datasets
- Monitor and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks across the stack
AI Integration
- Evaluate and integrate AI/ML capabilities (LLM APIs, recommendation engines, automation, NLP, etc.) into existing products
- Collaborate with data science/ML teams (or vendors) to operationalize AI models into production systems
- Identify opportunities to leverage AI to improve product features, developer productivity, or internal workflows
People & Project Management
- Manage, mentor, and grow a team of frontend, backend, and full-stack engineers
- Plan sprints, allocate resources, and ensure timely delivery in an Agile/Scrum environment
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and QA teams to translate requirements into technical execution
- Conduct performance reviews, 1:1s, and support career development of team members
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with leadership on technical roadmaps, budgeting, and hiring
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
- Manage vendor/third-party integrations (cloud, APIs, AI services)
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of software development experience, with strong expertise in MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js (MERN)
- Solid understanding of database design, optimization, and scalability (SQL and NoSQL)
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines
- Practical experience integrating AI/ML tools or APIs (OpenAI, Claude, LangChain, TensorFlow, etc.) into products
- Proven experience managing engineering teams (10+ direct/indirect reports)
- Strong understanding of system design, microservices architecture, and RESTful/GraphQL APIs
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills
