Job Title: Technology Lead / Senior IT
Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Technology Lead / Senior IT with strong hands-on expertise in PHP based development and a working knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) concepts. This role is central to building and scaling our digital products while also managing the day-to-day IT infrastructure of the organisation. The ideal candidate is a builder at heart — someone who can roll up their sleeves to develop robust tech products and simultaneously keep the organisation's IT operations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
Product & Software Development
• Lead the design, development, and deployment of web-based products and platforms using PHP and related technologies
• Build and maintain scalable backend systems, APIs, and microservices
• Manage the full software development lifecycle — from architecture to deployment
• Ensure code quality, security best practices, and performance optimisation across all products • Collaborate with founders and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
AI/ML Awareness & Integration
• Apply working knowledge of AI/ML concepts to identify opportunities where intelligent solutions can enhance products or operations
• Collaborate with or guide AI/ML tools/integrations where needed (e.g., chatbots, recommendation logic, automation)
• Stay informed on emerging trends in Generative AI and LLMs to advise the founding team on relevant opportunities
IT Infrastructure
• Oversee and manage the organisation's IT infrastructure, systems, and enterprise tools • Ensure uptime, security, compliance, and data privacy across all internal systems
• Set up and maintain internal IT processes and policies
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical / Development
• Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field
• 10–12 years of overall tech experience with strong, hands-on expertise in PHP development (Laravel, CodeIgniter, or similar frameworks)
• Proficiency in front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Reach JSR) and RESTful API development • Solid understanding of databases — MySQL, PostgreSQL, or similar
• Experience managing or working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Knowledge of AI/ML concepts — understanding of how ML models work, use cases for AI in products, and ability to work alongside AI tools or integrate AI-based APIs
IT Know-how (preferred)
• Familiarity with IT infrastructure management, networking basics
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills
• Experience managing small tech teams or working in a startup/founder-led environment
Preferred Qualifications
Technical / Development
• Experience integrating third-party AI/ML APIs or tools (e.g., OpenAI, Google AI, AWS AI services) • Familiarity with MLOps concepts or data pipelines — not required to build, but able to understand and oversee • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum development practices
