About MPL (Material Part Localization):
This department is the part of procurement team functioning on SI EA level and reporting to SI EA FIN P.
MPL is a team of procurement and technical experts that supports the localization of globally used key components for our switchgear and other products.
In addition to working as an interface between various cross-functions, especially for important and large projects, MPL usually takes over project management, which extends from supplier selection / supplier search to inquiry and pilot series.
What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities):
Localization Project Leadership:- Lead and coordinate Technical Feasibility Studies for localization projects, identifying optimal suppliers within and outside the Siemens network.
- Manage and drive technical aspects of localization projects from supplier selection to pilot series production.
Quality Assurance & Management:- Oversee all quality aspects within localization projects, ensuring successful execution of project objectives from a quality perspective.
- Integrate quality considerations into procurement and sourcing strategies to ensure long-term, cost-effective material supply.
- Conduct and coordinate inspection activities for samples at supplier premises and in-plant.
- Develop and implement project/process-specific test plans to ensure quality during development and production phases.
- Collaborate with global Quality & R&D teams to implement project-specific validation plans for localization projects.
- Define standards, control plans, and release processes for localized materials.
- Prepare and archive release documents and quality reports.
- Analyze and manage corrective and preventive actions for technical issues.
Supplier Technical Management:- Support supplier management (selection, qualification, evaluation, auditing, development) from a technical perspective to ensure optimal supplier performance and product quality.
- Prepare quality assurance contracts to mitigate risks and define appropriate methodologies at the contract award stage.
- Monitor the Indian market to identify and onboard new suppliers into the purchasing portfolio.
Technical Change & Process Optimization:- Lead and streamline the "Technical Change Note" process, acting as a Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for specific part suppliers to implement technical changes while considering in-process stocks.
- Define procedures for materials and production in line with international standards.
- Collaborate and coordinate with local and international quality partners on relevant activities.
- Support localization strategies, including scheduling and make-or-buy decisions, by integrating technical and quality requirements.
- Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
- Regularly measure and monitor project progress, identify variances, and provide consistent reporting on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure sustainability.
What You'll Bring (Required Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar technical discipline.
- 5 to 8 years of progressive experience in Quality Assurance and/or Supplier Quality Management.
- Demonstrated experience in international business environments.
- Proven knowledge or academic certification in special processes such as Welding Techniques (e.g., Advanced Diploma in Welding Technology, Certified Welding Inspector Training) and Non-Destructive Testing.
- Certification, knowledge, or auditor training in ISO / IMS / EM / Sustainability Management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and relevant local Indian languages.
- Solid project management skills and knowledge.
Bonus Points For (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in the Switchgear business / Industries.
- Sound understanding of various manufacturing processes, including Fabrication, Welding Techniques/Processes, Plastic Molding, Casting, and Painting.
- Previous experience monitoring performance against KPIs and implementing corrective actions.
- Good understanding of quality management systems (ISO 9001:2008/2015), EHS, and HIRA processes.
- Experience in process mapping and optimization.
