Kazam is building the technology infrastructure powering the EV charging ecosystem in India. We work with leading OEMs, Charge Point Operators (CPOs), fleet operators and other EV ecosystem partners to enable smart, reliable and affordable charging solutions. As we continue to expand our hardware portfolio and work with leading customers across the EV ecosystem, we are looking for a Technical Program Manager – Hardware to join our Sales team.
Role Overview
The Technical Program Manager will work closely with the Business Head to drive hardware-led business opportunities and manage programs from customer requirements to successful deployment and scale-up.
The role sits at the intersection of Sales, Product, and Program Management. The candidate will be responsible for understanding customer requirements, developing the right solution in collaboration with internal teams, supporting commercial discussions and ensuring successful execution of customer programs. This role requires a combination of technical understanding, business acumen, customer management and strong execution skills.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Program Ownership
● Own end-to-end hardware programs from initial customer requirement through solutioning, pilot, deployment and scale-up.
● Define program scope, milestones, timelines, dependencies and deliverables.
● Track program progress and proactively identify risks, gaps and bottlenecks.
● Ensure timely closure of customer and internal deliverables.
2. Customer & OEM Engagement
● Work closely with OEMs and strategic customers to understand their business, technical and deployment requirements.
● Participate in customer discussions and act as the technical and program interface between the customer and Kazam.
● Translate customer requirements into clear and actionable inputs for Product, Engineering and Operations teams.
● Manage customer expectations, timelines and dependencies throughout the program lifecycle.
3. Sales & Solutioning
● Work closely with the Business Head and Sales team to identify, qualify and convert hardware opportunities.
● Support customer meetings, technical discussions, solutioning and proposal development.
● Understand customer use cases and work with internal teams to recommend appropriate hardware solutions.
● Identify opportunities for upselling, cross-selling and expansion within existing accounts.
● Support new product opportunities based on customer requirements and market needs.
4. Cross-functional Program Management
● Coordinate closely with Sales, Product, Hardware Engineering, Software, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Operations and Customer Success teams.
● Drive alignment across teams and ensure clear ownership of program deliverables.
● Manage dependencies between customer requirements, product development, manufacturing and deployment.
● Drive issue resolution and escalate critical blockers with clear recommendations.
5. Product & Technical Understanding
● Develop a strong understanding of Kazam's hardware portfolio, product architecture and technical capabilities.
● Understand product specifications, connectivity, communication protocols, safety requirements, installation requirements and relevant technical dependencies.
● Evaluate customer-specific requirements in collaboration with Product and Engineering teams.
● Understand product limitations and capabilities and communicate them effectively to customers and internal stakeholders.
● Provide market and customer feedback to Product and Engineering teams to influence future product development.
6. Commercial & Business Management
● Support the Business Head in developing commercial proposals and customer-specific solutions.
● Work with internal teams on pricing, volumes, forecasts and commercial requirements.
● Track opportunity pipeline, program volumes and customer commitments.
● Identify risks and dependencies that may impact business outcomes or program profitability.
7. Market & Competitive Intelligence
● Track EV, automotive, charging and hardware industry trends.
● Monitor competitor offerings and emerging technologies.
● Develop an understanding of customer requirements and market gaps.
● Translate market insights into opportunities for Kazam's hardware business.
8. Program Reporting & Governance
● Maintain program trackers, opportunity pipelines, action trackers and MIS.
● Prepare regular business and program reviews for the Business Head and senior management.
● Track key metrics including pipeline, conversion, program timelines, pilots, deployments and customer issues.
● Ensure timely escalation and resolution of critical risks.
What We're Looking For
● 4–8 years of experience in Technical Program Management, Sales Engineering, Solutions, Product Management, Business Development, Key Account Management or similar roles.
● Experience in EV, automotive, EV charging, electrical/electronics, IoT hardware, mobility or related industries is preferred.
● Strong understanding of hardware products and technical specifications.
● Experience working with OEMs, enterprise customers or strategic accounts.
● Ability to understand technical requirements and translate them into business and product requirements.
● Strong program management and stakeholder management skills.
● Commercial mindset with an understanding of sales cycles and customer negotiations.
● Excellent communication, presentation and problem-solving skills.
● Ability to manage multiple programs and stakeholders simultaneously.
● Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment with high ownership and ambiguity.
● Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business or a related field. MBA is a plus.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who can bridge the gap between Sales, the customer and technical teams.
You should be comfortable understanding a customer's business requirement, diving into the technical aspects of a hardware solution, working with Product and Engineering to determine feasibility, supporting the commercial discussion and then driving the program through execution. It is a high-ownership role for someone who can combine technical understanding + customer management + execution to turn hardware opportunities into successful and scalable customer programs.
