Role Description
You will report to Dr. Michael German (Drinkwell R&D Director, Board Member & Co-Founder) at the company's office at Hemkunda Estate, B.B.T Road, Maheshtala, Kolkata-700141. As Technical Manager (manufacturing, lab and field) you will perform the following duties:
• Supervise manufacturing/synthesis and development of different water filter media in our lab/work site and meet/attain the target production schedule as agreed by company's management
• Perform quality testing, analyses, and testing of water samples at lab depending upon requirements
• Supervise treatment plant installation, trial run, testing and commissioning of water treatment plants,
services for maintenance, provide technical guidance to technicians/technical assistants for problem-solving & troubleshooting
• Maintain records and data for laboratory analyses, records of stock for raw materials & finished goods, production logs and material dispatch log, along with preparation of reports related to laboratory work and site activities
• Provide technical guidance to technical assistants and other technicians, train trainees for activities of media synthesis, laboratory testing, field installation and trial run
• Undertake research & development work in the laboratory and field related to water treatment and associated activities
• Develop system drawings and designs, prepare data sheets, author research journals and
publications, and create marketing materials and proposals for Drinkwell and its Kolkata-based
partner NGO
Qualifications
• Minimum requirement: M.Tech or ME in Environmental Engineering or Chemical Engineering; Recommended: PhD degree
• 1-2 years of experience in water sector building processes from the ground up for rapidly growing
organisations (water sector specific experience, ideally at an EPC firm with government tender revenue streams or at a water treatment company)
• Willingness to learn about water treatment technology (prior experience preferred)
• Natural mentor and team leader
• Passion towards bringing safe drinking water to underserved communities across India
• Enthusiasm for travel to project sites
• Strong comfort working with a remote team using email, Microsoft Office, and WhatsApp
• AI software application and use of system design software as needed
• Fluent in English and Hindi; fluency in Bengali a plus
• Well regarded for always getting results and being respected by all coworkers and partners
