Company Overview

WORMS Safety is a leader in quality management, helping customers meet compliance goals while managing risk and supporting growth. We deliver inspection, testing, auditing, certification, technical assistance, and training services with a strong commitment to excellence.

Overall Mission

The Technical Manager – Footwear & Handbags is a senior technical expert responsible for ensuring technical consistency, process compliance, and quality excellence across all footwear and handbag services (inspections, audits, capability assessments, and technical support). The role defines and governs best‑in‑class methodologies and SOPs, supports brands and suppliers from development to bulk production, and strengthens the technical capabilities of our global teams.

Main Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Quality Management

  • Lead end‑to‑end inspection processes for footwear and handbags, covering construction, workmanship, performance, safety, appearance, labeling, and packaging.
  • Define key product quality parameters and ensure accurate, consistent defect classification and reporting in line with brand requirements.
  • Maintain and improve defect libraries, inspection templates, and scoring criteria specific to footwear and handbags, in collaboration with laboratories and technical teams.
  • Monitor technical KPIs (first‑time‑right rate, recurrence of issues, SOP coverage, training impact) and implement corrective and continuous improvement actions.

SOP Governance & Technical Framework

  • Translate customer manuals and standards into harmonized internal SOPs covering inspections, technical and factory audits, capability assessments, development support, and complaint handling.
  • Own and update all footwear & handbag SOPs, guidelines, and technical tools, ensuring alignment with brand updates, regulatory changes, new services, and audit findings.
  • Develop technical audit checklists and scoring guidelines, and support digitalization and controlled access to all technical documents for field teams.

Audits, Risk Management & Technical Support

  • Conduct technical audits of footwear and handbag factories, evaluating development control, material usage, process capability, production readiness, and QMS implementation.
  • Perform structured root cause analyses and define CAPA for recurring issues and major complaints; follow up on implementation with brands and suppliers.
  • Provide expert technical support during development, qualification, and risk‑mitigation phases, including onsite or remote assistance and customer workshops.

Training & Capability Development

  • Design and deliver technical training (classroom, field, and e‑learning) for inspectors, auditors, and technical staff, maintaining updated content on constructions, defects, SOPs, and brand requirements.
  • Assess and track technical competency, lead train‑the‑trainer programs, and ensure new technical staff are certified before deployment.

Compliance & New Services

  • Coordinate with laboratories to ensure compliance with global testing, safety, and RSL requirements, and monitor updates in international standards.
  • Support business development and key account teams by providing technical input, identifying optimization opportunities, and contributing to new footwear and handbag service offerings.

Profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Footwear Technology, Leather Technology, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
  • 12–15+ years’ experience in footwear and/or handbag QA, inspection, technical auditing, or manufacturing support, ideally with multi‑brand or third‑party experience.
  • Deep knowledge of footwear and handbag constructions, materials, components, performance testing, and global compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience in SOP governance, technical audit frameworks, training, and RCA / CAPA.
  • Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to interact with brands, suppliers, and internal teams; willingness to travel frequently.
