Core specialties include accounting and FP&A support, data analytics and BI solutions, technology integration and workflow automation, as well as real estate, construction analytics, and process optimization.
Role Description
The Technical Lead, Microsoft Ecosystem is a full-time remote role responsible for the architecture, delivery, and long-term health of enterprise solutions built on the Microsoft cloud — Power Platform, Dataverse, Copilot Studio, Microsoft Fabric, Azure, and Microsoft 365.
This is a hands-on leadership role on a multi-year engagement with a major US affordable-housing owner-operator managing more than 23,000 units. You will own the technical foundation across a portfolio of connected builds: a Dataverse-backed collections and legal case management system, a SharePoint-based company intranet, AI agents serving both, and a reporting layer drawing live property data from Yardi via Microsoft Fabric.
The work is explicitly about durability, not demos. Solutions must run reliably for years, handle enterprise data volumes without failure, and survive staff turnover on both sides. You will set the standards that make that true — solution architecture, ALM, error handling, governance — and hold the team to them.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture and design
- Own the Dataverse data model: tables, relationships, alternate keys, choice strategy, and the denormalisation decisions that keep model-driven apps performant at scale
- Design solution architecture across multiple environments and workstreams, including publisher strategy, solution layering, and dependency management
- Translate business requirements into technical designs, and defend those designs to both client stakeholders and the delivery team
Build and integration
- Lead the design of complex Power Automate flows — child flow libraries, try/catch/finally patterns, trigger filtering, concurrency control — built to stay inside service protection limits
- Architect and implement data integration from external warehouses into Dataverse using Dataflows, Power Query, and Fabric pipelines, including incremental refresh and change detection
- Work with Microsoft Fabric — Lakehouse and Warehouse SQL analytics endpoints, Dataflow Gen2, OneLake — to bring third-party and legacy system data into the platform
- Resolve cross-tenant authentication, service principal provisioning, and connection reference strategy across environments
Agents and AI
- Design, build and deploy Copilot Studio agents grounded in Dataverse, SharePoint and document libraries — including topics, actions, knowledge sources and fallback behaviour
- Connect agents to Power Automate flows and custom connectors so they can take action, not just answer questions
- Deploy across the right channels — Teams, SharePoint, the intranet, and embedded inside model-driven apps
- Own agent governance: what the agent can see, what it can do, how responses are grounded, and how hallucination risk is contained on real client data
- Instrument and review agent performance — what people ask, where it fails, what to improve
- Apply AI Builder where it earns its place: document and form processing, prediction models, category classification against operational data
Delivery and governance
- Own ALM end to end — managed and unmanaged solutions, the pac CLI, deployment settings files, environment variables, connection references
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps using the Power Platform Build Tools
- Define and enforce governance: DLP policies, managed environments, security roles, and the Power Platform admin standards the client will inherit
- Produce architecture documentation and run knowledge transfer so the client is never dependent on a single individual
Leadership
- Mentor developers, review work, and raise the technical standard of the team
- Coordinate across client IT, HR, and business stakeholders in a US time zone
- Make and communicate the hard calls — including telling a client when an approach will not hold up
Qualifications
Required
- 7+ years in the Microsoft ecosystem, with demonstrable depth in Power Platform and Dataverse
- Proven experience designing Dataverse data models for production systems at scale — not prototypes
- Advanced Power Automate: child flows, error handling patterns, performance tuning, and working within service protection limits
- Strong Power Apps across both model-driven and canvas, including an understanding of delegation limits and where they break
- Copilot Studio — hands-on experience building and deploying production agents, including Dataverse and SharePoint grounding, actions via Power Automate, channel deployment, and authentication
- AI Builder — document processing, form processing, prediction models
- Hands-on Dataflows and Power Query, including query folding and incremental refresh
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Fabric — Lakehouse or Warehouse, SQL analytics endpoints, Dataflow Gen2
- Power Platform ALM in practice: solution strategy, pac CLI, deployment settings, environment promotion
- Azure DevOps CI/CD with the Power Platform Build Tools
- Microsoft Entra ID: authentication, service principals, app registrations, cross-tenant access
- SharePoint Online: site architecture, permissions, document libraries, and intranet delivery
- Power BI: data modelling, DAX, and the judgement to know what belongs in a report rather than an app
- Strong T-SQL and relational database fundamentals
- Clear written and spoken English, with the ability to run a client call unsupported
Strongly preferred
- Experience with Yardi Voyager or comparable property management systems
- Background in US real estate, affordable housing, or property management
- HRIS integration experience — Dayforce, Ceridian, or similar APIs
- Microsoft 365 Copilot and declarative agent development
- Power Platform Center of Excellence toolkit and governance frameworks
- Familiarity with ITIL or a comparable service management framework
Education and certification
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Microsoft certifications highly valued: PL-600 Power Platform Solution Architect, PL-400, PL-200, DP-600 Fabric Analytics Engineer, AZ-104, MS-102, and any current Copilot Studio or agent credential
What we're actually looking for
Someone who has maintained what they built. The ability to design a system is table stakes; we need someone who has lived with one in production, watched it fail in unexpected ways, and changed how they build as a result.
Agent work is a real part of this role, not a side experiment. We need someone who has shipped an agent that people actually use, and who understands the difference between a demo that answers questions and a production agent that has to be right.
You should be comfortable saying "that approach won't scale" to a client, and able to explain why in terms a non-technical stakeholder understands.
