We are seeking Technical Team Leads to own quality and execution for our application-layer products. You will manage a compact team of 3-5 engineers developing educational applications that serve thousands of students.
Potential Products Include
- Athena: AI-powered video and assessment generation producing measurable learning outcomes
- TeachTap: AI-driven platform animating historical personalities in a TikTok-inspired educational format
- TeachTales: Customized, engaging narrative experiences that enhance reading comprehension
- TrashCat: Game-based learning platform that makes education enjoyable and interactive
This position combines individual contribution with leadership: you will spend 50% of your time implementing sophisticated features and 50% mentoring and empowering your team. You define quality expectations, create technical patterns, conduct code reviews with instructional intent, and foster engineer development. Team performance is your responsibility, extending beyond your personal contributions.
Lean team structure, significant autonomy, minimal administrative overhead. You provide technical direction; people management is handled separately.
What You Will Be Doing
- Implementing sophisticated features that establish standards for the team
- Conducting pull request reviews with comprehensive, instructional commentary
- Developing engineers through pair programming and targeted feedback
- Organizing technical efforts and decomposing feature requirements
- Defining quality benchmarks and verifying team adherence
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Handling personnel management (recruitment, termination, performance evaluations, career development discussions)
- Contributing to platform or infrastructure layers
- Attending excessive meetings
- Designing architecture without hands-on implementation
Basic Requirements
Technical Lead key responsibilities
- Minimum 5 years of full-stack development experience
- Minimum 2 years in a technical leadership capacity (code review, engineer mentorship, team practice establishment)
- Proven history of delivering SaaS products
- Working knowledge of AI tools integrated into development processes
- Confirmed capability to elevate other engineers' skills and performance

Working with us
This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $100 USD/hour, which equates to $200,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
