We are seeking Technical Team Leads to oversee quality and delivery for our application-level products. In this role, you will manage a compact team of 3-5 engineers who develop educational applications serving thousands of students.
Potential Products Include
- Athena: AI-powered videos and assessments that produce measurable learning results
- TeachTap: AI technology that resurrects historical figures in an interactive, TikTok-style educational format
- TeachTales: Customized, enchanting narratives designed to enhance reading comprehension
- TrashCat: Game-based learning that transforms education into an enjoyable, interactive experience
This position combines leadership with hands-on execution: you will dedicate 50% of your time to implementing sophisticated features and 50% to mentoring and empowering your team. Your responsibilities include defining quality expectations, establishing coding patterns, conducting code reviews with educational intent, and facilitating engineer development. Team success is your primary accountability, extending beyond individual contributions.
Lean team structure, significant autonomy, minimal red tape. Technical leadership is your domain; people management is handled separately.
What You Will Be Doing
- Developing sophisticated features that establish standards for team implementation
- Conducting PR reviews with comprehensive, instructional commentary
- Mentoring engineers through collaborative pairing sessions and constructive feedback
- Organizing technical efforts and decomposing requirements into actionable tasks
- Defining quality benchmarks and verifying team adherence
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Handling personnel matters (recruitment, termination, performance evaluations, career development discussions)
- Developing platform-level infrastructure components
- Attending continuous, unproductive meetings
- Designing architecture in isolation without hands-on coding
Basic Requirements
Technical Lead key responsibilities
- Minimum 5 years of full-stack development experience
- Minimum 2 years in a leadership capacity (conducting code reviews, mentoring developers, defining team processes)
- Proven history of delivering SaaS products to market
- Practical experience integrating AI tools into development processes
- Verified ability to elevate other engineers' skills and performance

Working with us
This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $100 USD/hour, which equates to $200,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
