Role Description
We are looking for a hands-on Backend Tech Lead with strong experience in Node.js to drive backend architecture, reliability, and technical leadership. You’ll own key design decisions, guide the engineering team, and ensure our backend systems scale reliably as we grow.
Key Responsibilities
● Lead design and development of scalable backend services and APIs using Node.js, Express/Nest.js.
● Make architectural decisions around microservices, performance, data modeling, caching, and distributed systems.
● Own end-to-end technical roadmap for backend systems.
● Mentor and guide engineers via reviews, pairing, and technical leadership.
● Ensure code quality, automated testing, observability, and performance tuning.
● Collaborate with product, DevOps, and frontend teams to deliver features that scale.
● Identify and evaluate tools, frameworks, and libraries that improve velocity.
● Ensure availability, reliability, and stability across services using SLAs and monitoring.
● Dive continuous improvement in engineering practices and development workflows.
What we’re looking for:
● 7 to 10+ years backend experience with strong expertise in Node.js.
● Deep understanding of:
- REST API design
- Microservices architecture
- Event-driven systems
- Async patterns & concurrency
● Strong Knowledge of SQL (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL (DynamoDB/MongoDB/Redis).
● Experience with messaging/queues: Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS, or equivalent.
● Familiarity with AWS services (EC2, ECS/EKS, S3, RDS, Lambda).
● Experience leading teams, owning systems, and making architectural decisions.
● Strong debugging, optimization, and problem-solving ability.
● Excellent communication skills for cross-team collaboration.
