If your experience is mostly:
moving data from A → B
building ETL pipelines
creating dashboards
This role will frustrate you.
This role is for people who have:
- Designed data platforms end-to-end (not just parts of it)
- Made architecture trade-offs (cost vs performance vs scalability)
- Built systems that handle real-world scale + messy data
- Owned data modeling, governance, and access patterns
- Worked on both batch AND real-time systems
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Designing a lakehouse platform as a product (not a project)
- Defining system boundaries, data contracts, and abstractions
- Building multi-consumer data layers (BI, APIs, AI use cases)
- Ensuring data quality, lineage, and governance by design
- Driving performance, cost optimization, and reliability at scale
- Hard filters (read before applying)
Do NOT apply if:
You haven’t designed system architecture yourself
You’ve only worked on tickets, not systems
You’re not comfortable explaining why you chose one design over another
You haven’t handled production-scale data systems
Strong signal if you’ve worked with
- Databricks / Snowflake / Iceberg / Delta
- Streaming systems (Kafka / Spark Structured Streaming)
- AWS data ecosystem
- API-first data access patterns
- Data governance (lineage, catalog, PII)
