Role Overview
The Technical Director will be responsible for the overall football methodology and technical direction of the academy. This individual will lead the implementation of the academy’s playing philosophy, oversee coach development, ensure consistency across all age groups, and create an elite learning environment for players and coaches.
The ideal candidate is a visionary football leader with extensive experience in youth development, coach education, and technical management.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
*Implement the academy’s football philosophy and playing model.
* Design and oversee the long-term player development curriculum across all age groups.
* Ensure consistency in coaching methodology throughout the academy.
* Regularly evaluate and update the technical programme based on best practices.
Coach Development
* Recruit, mentor, and evaluate coaching staff.
* Conduct regular coach education sessions and workshops.
* Observe training sessions and provide constructive feedback.
* Create individual development plans for coaches.
Player Development
* Monitor the progression of players across all age groups.
* Support player assessments, evaluations, and pathway planning.
* Work closely with coaches on individual player development plans.
* Identify high-potential players and recommend opportunities for advancement.
Performance & Match Analysis
* Review training sessions and match performances.
* Establish KPIs for teams and coaches.
* Promote a data-informed approach to player and team development.
* Ensure training reflects the academy’s playing philosophy.
Academy Operations
* Collaborate with academy management on strategic planning.
* Support recruitment, talent identification, and player trials.
* Build relationships with clubs, schools, and football organisations.
* Represent the academy at football events, meetings, and competitions.
Qualifications
* AFC ‘A’ Licence or AIFF ‘A’ Diploma (or equivalent UEFA Licence preferred).
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in youth football development.
* Experience leading football programmes or academies.
* Strong understanding of Long-Term Player Development (LTPD).
* Experience in coach education and mentoring.

* Ability to inspire and develop coaches.

* Collaborative mindset with attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with elite youth competitions.
* Background in technical programme design.
* Sports science or performance analysis knowledge is an advantage.
