Job Description: Technical Coordinator (Metal Fabrication and Drawings)
Reporting To: Operations Manager / Plant Head
Job Location: Mumbai
Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Technical Coordinator with robust technical expertise in metalwork fabrication and engineering drawings.
Key Responsibilities
- Drawing Interpretation & Verification: Review, interpret, and analyze engineering and fabrication drawings (2D/3D layouts, structural drawings, and sheet metal developments).
- Production Alignment: Translate technical drawings into actionable fabrication instructions for the factory floor and site teams.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Identify design discrepancies or potential fabrication issues early and collaborate with designers/engineers to resolve them.
- Bill of Materials (BOM): Prepare and verify accurate Bills of Materials, cutting lists, and material estimations based on drawing specifications to optimize material usage and minimize wastage.
- Quality & Tolerance Control: Ensure that final metal products meet the precise geometric dimensions, tolerances, and quality standards specified in the technical documents.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Coordinate seamlessly between the Head Office (design/management), the Factory, and project sites to ensure production matches project timelines and specifications.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related technical field.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of metal fabrication processes (cutting, bending, welding, machining, and assembly).
- Strong knowledge of metal properties, gauges, and surface finishes.
- Exceptional ability to read, interpret, and critique complex engineering drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity or working knowledge of design software is highly preferred.
- Experience: 2–5 years of experience in the railings and Architectural Finishing Industry, a metal fabrication unit, the sheet metal industry, or a structural engineering environment.
