Position: Technical Advisory Officer (Entomologist)
📍 Location: Bhopal (Field + Office + Remote Advisory)
Role Purpose
To provide expert advisory on insect pest management, helping farmers improve crop health, reduce losses, and adopt sustainable pest control practices.
Key Responsibilities
1. Pest Identification & Diagnosis
- Identify crop pests, insects, and infestation patterns
- Diagnose pest-related crop damage via field visits, images, and farmer queries
- Maintain pest surveillance data across crops and regions
2. Advisory & Farmer Support
- Deliver timely and accurate pest management recommendations
- Guide farmers on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices
- Support tele-calling teams and field staff with technical inputs
- Develop crop-wise pest advisory calendars
3. Field Monitoring & Research
- Conduct field visits, demonstrations, and farmer training programs
- Monitor pest outbreaks and recommend preventive actions
- Assist in trials of new pest control technologies/products
4. Content Development
- Create pest management content for mobile apps, WhatsApp, and SMS
- Develop training materials, videos, and awareness campaigns
- Prepare seasonal pest alerts
5. Data Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze pest trends and farmer feedback
- Prepare reports on pest outbreaks and advisory impact
- Maintain database of pest occurrences and solutions
6. Coordination & Training
- Train field executives and tele-callers
- Coordinate with agronomists and agri experts
- Support digital agriculture initiatives (NDVI, remote advisory, etc.)
Qualifications
- M.Sc. in Entomology / Agriculture (Entomology specialization)
Experience
- 2–5 years preferred
- Freshers with strong practical knowledge can also apply
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of crop pests and pest control methods
- Understanding of IPM (biological + chemical control)
- Good communication skills (Hindi + local language preferred)
- Experience with digital tools / agri advisory platforms
- Data analysis and reporting ability
Work Environment
- Mix of fieldwork, office work, and remote advisory
- Regular interaction with farmers, FPOs, and agri teams
