We don’t just sell medicines – we teach India how to understand them.

We are at an early but high-potential stage. The product is live, revenue is flowing, and growth is our focus. Now, we are building our in-house engineering foundation to move faster and remove vendor dependency.

We are looking for a senior engineering leader to come in and take ownership.

Role Overview

We are hiring a Tech Lead / Founding Engineering Lead to:

• Own backend and platform architecture
• Gradually transition away from vendor dependency
• Build scalable systems for rapid growth
• Set engineering standards and culture
• Lead a small internal engineering team

This role will report directly to the Product & Business leadership and will define the technical future of Akidha.

Current System Landscape

• Mobile App: Flutter (frontend only)
• Backend: Java (vendor developed)
• Database: PostgreSQL
• Infrastructure: AWS (EC2, VPC, etc.)
• Admin Panel: Vendor-built internal order management system
• Integrations: Zoho CRM, Zoho Inventory, Shipping partners, etc.
• Event tracking: Not implemented
• Automation: Largely manual

We own the AWS account but not the backend source code. One of your first mandates will be to bring technical sovereignty back in-house.

What You Will Do:

Technical Ownership & Architecture

• Audit existing architecture (backend, DB, infra)
• Define target architecture for scale
• Create roadmap to reduce vendor dependency
• Decide rebuild vs extend strategy
• Ensure system reliability and performance

Backend & Platform Leadership

• Own Java backend architecture
• Optimize PostgreSQL schema and queries
• Implement event tracking and analytics pipelines
• Design automation systems for:

Order Management

Warehouse Ops

Sales Workflows

Procurement Systems

• Improve API structure and documentation

Engineering Culture & Team Building

• Hire and mentor engineers
• Establish coding standards, CI/CD, testing culture
• Introduce proper dev workflows
• Build internal documentation and tech processes

Product & Growth Collaboration

• Work closely with Product and Growth teams
• Implement event tracking and data pipelines
• Enable experimentation and rapid iteration
• Ensure tech is a growth enabler, not a bottleneck

What We’re Looking For

Must Have:

• At least 8 years backend engineering experience
• Strong hands-on experience in Java (Spring Boot preferred)
• Strong PostgreSQL knowledge (schema design, indexing, optimization)
• AWS infrastructure experience
• Experience building scalable systems from 0→1 or 1→10
• Experience working in early-stage or fast-growing start ups
• Strong system design capability

Good To Have:

• Experience in HealthTech / E-commerce
• Experience in vendor transition / system rebuild
• Experience building admin dashboards or internal tools
• Flutter familiarity
• Experience implementing analytics (Firebase, Mixpanel, etc.)
• Experience with microservices architecture
