Job Title : Tech-Lead for Purpose-Driven Startup | (WordPress + GPS + Sustainability)
Location: Pune, Maharashtra
(India Remote-first, preferring candidates who are Pune-based for occasional in-person syncs)
Job Type: Full-time 40 hrs/week (Almost Freelance & Flexible)

The Problem We're Solving,
71% of conscious consumers in India can't find sustainable products. 8 out of 10 eco-social businesses stay invisible despite doing real work. Wibhoo fixes that.
We're a GPS-powered multivendor marketplace connecting mindful consumers with verified sustainable brands across products, services, places, and experiences. Think Amazon meets Google Maps, built on ethics.
We're soft-launched in Pune with 20+ vendors, a working WooCommerce + Dokan stack, Zoho integrations, and a ₹38L Year 1 revenue target. The foundation is live. Now we need someone to own and scale it.
Why This Role Exists,
Our tech lead stepped down. We're not hiring a replacement. We're hiring an owner.
This person will be Wibhoo's sole technical brain, making product and tech decisions together, not waiting for specs. You'll inherit a working WordPress/WooCommerce/Dokan foundation and take it from 300 to 10,000+ orders/month across multiple cities.
You will also own day-to-day product operations - vendor management, offer campaigns, shipping coordination, banner updates, festive promotions, and vendor settlements. This is not a pure dev role. It's a product ownership role that requires strong technical depth.
What You'll Own
Technical -
- Custom WordPress plugin development for Wibhoo's 4 vendor segments (products, services, places, events)
- Deep WooCommerce + Dokan customization - vendor dashboards, conditional shipping logic, commission flows
- GPS-based hyper-local discovery engine
- REST API integrations - shipping partners, payment gateways, Zoho One (CRM, Books, Campaigns)
- Performance, security, backups, staging, and deployment
- Evaluate build vs. buy decisions and plan architecture for Pune to multi-city scale
Product Operations
- Vendor support, Order management, and settlement coordination
- Campaign and offer management - festive offers, discounts, banner updates
- Shipping coordination with logistics partners
- Platform health monitoring and proactive fixes
Non-Negotiable Skills
- Advanced WordPress - child themes, custom post types, template overrides, hooks, filters
- WooCommerce + Dokan - has actually customized multivendor flows, not just configured them
- PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript - can read, write, and fix production code
- MySQL - understands WordPress DB structure, can write custom queries
- REST API integration experience
- DevOps basics - hosting, SSL, staging environments
- AI-assisted development - uses Cursor, Copilot, or equivalent daily.
Our Tech Philosophy
We believe AI tools make great developers faster, not average developers great. We expect you to use Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and AI assistants as daily tools. We'll cover the subscription costs. What we need from you is the judgment to know when AI is right, when it's wrong, and when to throw it out and think from scratch. Our goal is a lean, fast, AI-assisted tech team that builds like a team 3x its size.

- You don't need a detailed spec to start working. You understand the goal and ask the right questions

- You have a financial runway to take a calculated bet on an early-stage startup
Compensation (Honest)
We're a grant-based eco-social startup. We can't offer big-tech salaries. We offer ownership and upside.
- Base: ₹25,000/month
- Profit Share: 4-5% of net profit once Wibhoo is profitable (projected Month 27-30)
- Equity Path: Profit share converts to 1-2% deferred equity after 12-18 months of sustained impact
- Freelancing allowed on the side (20-30% of your time) to supplement income
- Core hours: 11 AM - 6 PM IST. Rest is flexible
