About the role
We are seeking a Tech Lead to take end-to-end technical ownership of TradePe’s engineering platform. This role is responsible for driving system architecture, engineering standards, and delivery quality across core application systems.
The Tech Lead will play a critical role in shaping the technical direction of the platform, mentoring engineers, and ensuring that TradePe’s systems scale reliably as the business grows. The role works closely with founders, product, and compliance stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust, production-grade fintech systems.
This is a hands-on leadership role, combining architectural responsibility with active coding and technical mentorship.
Experience & Skills
- 7–10 years of experience in software engineering with strong full-stack depth.
- Deep hands-on experience with Python/Django, React, and TypeScript.
- Strong expertise in system design, API architecture, and scalable backend services.
- Solid experience with PostgreSQL/MySQL, data modelling, and performance optimisation.
- Experience working with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-based deployments.
- Proven ability to make and own architectural and technical decisions.
- Strong code review, debugging, and technical mentoring capabilities.
- Experience building fintech, payments, or other compliance-heavy systems is preferred.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Own the design, architecture, and delivery of core application components across frontend and backend.
- Drive key technical and architectural decisions, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
- Establish and maintain high standards for code quality, testing, documentation, performance, and system resilience.
- Guide engineers through design discussions, code reviews, and hands-on technical problem-solving.
- Work closely with founders and business stakeholders to align technical solutions with platform and growth goals.
- Partner with compliance and security stakeholders to ensure systems meet regulatory and risk requirements.
- Contribute hands-on to development, particularly in high-impact or complex areas of the platform.
- Support production readiness, incident handling, and continuous improvement of system stability.
