Job Description
The Senior Officer in the Health Safety & Environment department will serve as a pivotal figure in ensuring the adherence to safety protocols and legislative requirements within the organization. This role demands a proactive approach to managing occupational health and safety matters, particularly in the context of project implementation. The incumbent will act as the management representative, tasked with the oversight and execution of safety policies and procedures. A key aspect of this role is to foster a culture of safety awareness through effective training and communication strategies. The Senior Officer will be instrumental in conducting regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards. Ensuring compliance with both local and organizational safety regulations is paramount. The role also involves maintaining strong relationships with local authorities to facilitate successful inspections and address any concerns promptly. Additionally, the Senior Officer will be responsible for managing safety standards and training subcontractors to minimize incidents and promote a safe working environment.
Principal Accountabilities
Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs and policies to ensure a safe working environmentbrConduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective measuresbrEnsure compliance with all local and organizational safety regulations and standards to maintain a high level of safetybrPromote safety awareness through effective training and communication to reduce incidents and enhance safety culturebrInspect sites for unsafe conditions and monitor for unsafe behavior to continually reduce the number of incidentsbrMaintain good relationships with local authorities to ensure successful inspections and address any concerns in a timely mannerbrManage safety standards and provide training to subcontractors to ensure a reduction in incidents and adherence to safety protocols
