The Opportunity
Responsible for establishing baseline criteria to plan and schedule workload relative to various engineering projects. Prepares project planning and scheduling status reports and recommends remedial actions. Carries out necessary preplanning to examine scope of work and services, work breakdown structure, engineering quality and quantities, financial and contractual obligations and division of responsibility to control and report on planning and scheduling activities. Works with third parties to ensure plans are realistic and achievable; analyses third party contractor progress information. Prepares schedules for commissioning and start up. Assist the project control team in establishing a project performance index.
How You'll Make An Impact
- Sets-up and supervises the Project Control taskforce and delegates responsibilities for areas of work to be undertaken to ensure all Project Control services are provided to the project. Works with Group and Division Project Controls Manager to develop, implement and continuously improve standard processes, tools and ways of working by applying best practices to internal environment and experience.
- Ensures the lessons learned during project execution are incorporated as part of continual improvement.
- Arranges the project control work allocation so that it makes best use of the individual capabilities and the team resources. Confirms that the individuals have a continuing understanding of, and commitment to, the allocation of work and their roles and responsibilities. Supervises project controls execution and performance through scheduled project reviews with project controls team, management, and Project Managers to ensure adherence to contract. Verifies and approves any project deviations (costs or technical-operational solutions). Takes an active role in escalated customer issues and determines corrective actions to optimize the project performance.
- Ensures the portfolio of projects follows sound methodology and execution practices in accordance with internal standard procedures, and projects are closed as per contracts entered with customers. - Builds and maintains relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, consulting on revenues planning, resource planning, and other project execution issues. Serves as an escalation point for systemic project management issues.
- Ensures the portfolio of projects follows good project planning methodology and execution tracking and reporting practices as per contracts entered with customers.
- Ensures that timely and effective project review preparations and project reviews takes place.
- Guides, motivates and develops direct and indirect reports. Manages competency assessments and development of the project controls staff.
- You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background
- Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent project management qualification.
- 12+ years of experience in Project Planning and Controls within Sub-Station Projects, Oil & Gas Projects, infrastructure, or large capital programs, with at least 2+ years in a technical leadership or people‑management role.
- Proven ability to lead teams of 8 to 10 people in project planning and controls professionals in a matrix or global delivery environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage global or large, cross‑functional Project Planning and Controls teams. Strong stakeholder management, communication, and decision‑making skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to balance technical depth and strategic thinking. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, risks, and dependencies in a complex HVDC project environment.
- Strong capabilities in scheduling (Primavera P6/MS Project), EVM, forecasting, change management, Risk Management, cost control and Dashboard reporting.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder‑management skills.
