The Team Leader is the single pivot for all physical security matters at an API pharmaceutical manufacturing site. The role ensures 24x7 security operations excellence, robust access control and perimeter security, effective incident response & investigations, and loss/diversion prevention aligned to the organization’s Global Security Standards.
In addition to site ownership, this role acts as a capability multiplier for India, leading audits, maturity uplift, and standardization across other sites and ready to step in during projects or surge events.
Responsibilities
- Represent Pinkerton’s core values of integrity, vigilance, and excellence.
- Stable 24x7 operations with consistent post discipline, shift handovers, and measurable performance.
- Risk-based security posture for a pharma environment: controlled access zoning, robust visitor/contractor governance.
- Incident management with documented investigations, evidence handling, corrective actions, and trend reduction.
- Security systems governance ensuring uptime, coverage adequacy, retention compliance, and rapid retrieval processes.
- Audit & maturity uplift program across India sites (assess, score, roadmap, drive closure).
- Succession readiness: ability to represent India security function and support activities, reporting, and escalations.
- Own day-to-day physical security operations across all shifts: perimeter, gates, patrols, guard deployment, alarm response, and escalation.
- Maintain and enforce post orders, SOPs, and shift discipline, drive accountability through routine inspections and surprise checks.
- Run operational cadence.
- Daily shift briefings and risk updates.
- Weekly security connects with CSM other sites (OKRs and KPI alignments).
- Monthly site security review with Plant Leadership + CSM + HoS (metrics, risks, etc.).
- Ensure seamless coordination with Operations for peak entry/exit times, dispatch peaks, maintenance shutdowns, and high-activity periods.
- Efficiency and Process improvement initiatives.
- Provide command-and-control oversight for the guard force across shifts.
- Own vendor performance management: attendance, training, supervision ratios, post compliance, grooming/discipline, and incident response quality.
- Conduct monthly performance reviews, publish scorecards, and drive corrective actions for recurring issues.
- Verify mandatory vetting/background checks per policy; ensure site-specific induction and refresher training.
- To overview the training being imparted to personnel by the internal and external sources to regular basis.
- Maintain a live Security Risk Register for the site covering (but not limited to): theft/pilferage and product/material diversion (pharma-specific)
- perimeter intrusion, sabotage, and disgruntled employee threats contractor/visitor risks and credential misuse, vehicle movement risks and dispatch integrity.
- P protection risks (formulas/process areas/records).
- Implement layered security controls aligned to Global Security Standards: .
- zoning (public / controlled / restricted / high-security areas).
- access profiles and periodic access recertification, escort requirements and photo-ID rules
- anti-tailgating and badge discipline
- Collaborate with Quality/Compliance to ensure security controls do not conflict with GMP/plant protocols and are integrated into site procedures.
- Badge/access governance: joiner/mover/leaver controls, temporary badges, contractor badges, and visitor passes, strict identity verification and escorting requirements, periodic access review and immediate deprovisioning on termination
- Ensure robust visitor management with pre-approvals, identity checks, restrictions on photography, and controlled movement.
- Strengthen contractor management: daily muster/attendance checks, tool/material control (as applicable),restricted access to sensitive areas
- Own gate discipline and movement controls: vehicle search protocols, seal control, loading bay controls, dispatch documentation checks, route adherence (where applicable) inbound/outbound material verification aligned with SOPs, Identify high-risk lanes (night dispatches, third-party transport, scrap movement) and implement targeted controls (randomization, dual-checks, CCTV coverage validation).
- Lead security response for incidents: intrusion, theft, threats, violence risk, suspicious activity, tampering, protest/unrest indicators etc..
- Manage investigation lifecycle: immediate containment and evidence preservation, interviewing, CCTV review, access logs checks, root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions
- maintain chain-of-custody and confidentiality.
- Produce consistent reporting: incident notification within defined SLAs, 24/48/72-hour reports (as per SOP), final investigation reports with actions and owners, Partner with HR/Legal on employee misconduct cases when directed through governance.
- Security Systems (CCTV/VMS, ACMS, Perimeter Detection) Governance
- Maintain system effectiveness and uptime: camera coverage adequacy (no critical blind spots), lighting validation, retention and export readiness for investigations, preventive maintenance coordination with Security, Facilities, and IT vendors
- Ensure disciplined control room operations: monitoring SOP adherence, incident tagging, drillsaccess log integrity checks and alert.
- Recommend enhancements based on risk and audit results (e.g., analytics for perimeter/gates, ANPR/LPR, improved visitor workflow), routed through CSM.
- Knowledge and hands on experience on latest security technologies in the market.
- Crisis Readiness, Emergency Support & Coordination with EHS
- Maintain security components of emergency plans (lockdown support, controlled evacuation, assembly area access controls).
- Conduct periodic drills/tabletops with EHS and site leadership; ensure learning closure.
- Provide reliable situational reporting during crises (timeline, actions taken, resource requirements).
- Audits, Maturity Uplift & Standardization
- Run structured site security assessments:
- gap analysis, prioritized roadmaps, and CAPA tracking
- maturity baseline scoring against Global Security Standards
- Deploy standard templates and operational artifacts:
- post order library, SOPs, incident taxonomy, KPI dashboards, audit checklists
- Provide advisory support and surge response to other India sites during incidents or transitions (new vendor onboarding, system changes, expansions).
- Professional Conduct & Service Oriented Approach

Qualifications
8–12+ years in industrial security operations, ideally in pharma/chemical/process industries or high-regulation environments.3–5+ years in a leadership role managing 24x7 security operations and guard force performance. Strong hands-on experience in: physical security operations (perimeter, gates, patrol, control room),incident response and investigations (evidence discipline, reporting), vendor governance and performance management, security systems oversight (CCTV/VMS, ACMS, alarms/perimeter detection etc.). Excellent reporting, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
