The Opportunity
Queen Elizabeth’s School, Gurugram is seeking an experienced and culturally aware Japanese Mother Tongue Teacher to support and deliver high-quality language and cultural learning experiences across both programmes.
The successful candidate will inspire students to develop confidence and fluency in their mother tongue while fostering a strong appreciation for Japanese culture, identity, and traditions.

The Role
Teaching & Learning
- Plan and deliver engaging Japanese mother tongue lessons across relevant year groups.
- Create inclusive and learner-centred classroom environments.
- Differentiate instruction to support varying levels of language proficiency.
- Promote fluency, literacy, communication skills, and cultural understanding.
- Use authentic language resources and culturally relevant teaching materials.
- Foster confidence, participation, and a strong sense of cultural identity among students.
Curriculum & Academic Responsibilities
- Contribute to the ongoing development of engaging and age-appropriate language and cultural learning experiences.
- Deliver high standards of teaching and learning across both programmes.
- Develop lesson resources, assessment approaches, and enrichment opportunities.
- Monitor student progress and maintain appropriate assessment and reporting processes.
- Use innovative and engaging teaching strategies to support language acquisition and cultural engagement.
Parent & Community Engagement
- Maintain positive and professional relationships with Japanese programme families.
- Build positive relationships with parents and guardians.
- Coordinate communication regarding programme updates, events, and student progress.
- Support the organisation of cultural events, performances, and community engagement initiatives.
Student Enrichment & Cultural Engagement
- Promote student wellbeing, inclusion, and cultural identity.
- Coordinate cultural celebrations, assemblies, and enrichment opportunities.
- Encourage participation in language-related activities and events.
- Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Professional Engagement
- Participate in meetings, school initiatives, and professional development activities.
- Collaborate effectively with teaching staff, leadership teams, and parents.
- Contribute positively to the wider school culture and community.
The Person
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Languages, International Education, or a related field.
- Recognised teaching qualification.
- Ability to teach another subject would be an added advantage.
- Experience working within international schools or multilingual educational environments.
- Previous teaching experience within international schools or multilingual learning environments is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of language-learning
