Company Description
AJMS Global is seeking a high-ownership Manager to anchor its India tax practice from Mumbai. This is a
client-facing, revenue-generating role—not a back-office position. You will independently manage a portfolio of domestic and inbound clients across direct tax, transfer pricing, and GST, while collaborating with AJMS partners in other regions to execute cross-border and multi-jurisdictional mandates. The right candidate will treat this as a platform to build a practice, not merely fill a seat.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Own and grow a portfolio of Indian clients across income tax, transfer pricing, and GST advisory and
compliance—from scoping through delivery to billing.
• Serve as the primary client relationship manager: conduct reviews, present positions, and become the
trusted adviser clients call first.
• Prepare and review TP documentation (Local Files, Master Files, CbCR filings), benchmarking studies,
and TP policy design for Indian entities of MNE groups.
• Handle direct tax compliance and advisory: corporate returns, advance tax computations, appellate
matters, assessments, and representation before tax authorities.
• Manage end-to-end GST compliance: returns, reconciliations, refund applications, audit responses, and
advisory on input tax credit, place-of-supply, and classification issues.
• Collaborate with AJMS partners across geographies to deliver India-leg work on cross-border
engagements (inbound structuring, PE risk advisory, withholding tax, DTAA optimisation).
• Identify new business opportunities within existing accounts and support proposal development for
prospective clients.
• Supervise and mentor junior staff; build a lean, high-output team in the Mumbai office over time.
REQUIREMENTS
• Qualified CA (ICAI) or CMA with 5–7 years of post-qualification experience in direct tax, transfer pricing,
and/or GST—preferably in a Big 4 firm, mid-tier practice, or reputable boutique.
• Strong technical grounding in the Income Tax Act, Transfer Pricing Rules, OECD TP Guidelines, and
GST law.
• Proven client-management and relationship-building ability—not just execution capability.
• Experience managing audit/assessment proceedings and drafting submissions to CIT(A), ITAT, or GST
authorities.
• Comfortable working in a lean, partner-led structure with high autonomy and direct accountability for
deliverables.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to present complex positions clearly to clients and
authorities.
• Willingness to collaborate across time zones with AJMS partners in the Middle East and other regions.
WHY AJMS
• Direct partner access and mentorship.
• Exposure to international mandates across the Middle East, UK, and India—rare at this career stage.
• Platform to build and own a practice vertical, with a clear trajectory toward partnership for the right
performer.
• Competitive compensation commensurate with experience and contribution
