About the role

Job purpose

  • This position is responsible for driving and achieving best-in-class results in the procurement of raw materials and packaging components.   This role supports customer satisfaction by delivering efficient execution of plant level strategic and tactical sourcing activities. 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Responsible for timely and efficient procurement of raw materials and packaging components that meet pricing, quality, and availability specifications to satisfy production needs.
  • Develops and maintains efficient replenishment process to ensure material availability and an appropriate safety stock supply while minimizing excess and obsolete materials.        
  • Maintains accuracy of TMM to allow for accurate planning and supplier performance monitoring.
  • Monitors and reports supplier on-time delivery. Proactively advises manufacturing of potential material shortages and leads team in proactive actions to prevent material shortages ensuring production stability
  • Governs the complete procurement process from P/O submission to P/O receipt.  
  • Manages supplier delivery performance, supplier lead-times, inventory turns and inventory obsolescence
  • Participates in the budgeting process for materials planning and controlling all expenditures required to support ongoing operations
  • Assists Materials Manager in maintaining accurate physical versus perpetual inventor records.         Supports and participates in cycle counts and updates inventory records for reconciliation.
  • Develops and maintains strong customer and supplier relationships, participates or leads new supplier selection process
  • Monitors supplier performance by ensuring product is delivered as scheduled and meets specifications and addresses concerns or issues accordingly.
  • Participates in or may lead supplier pricing and service negotiations
  • Handles Conflicted Materials and it’s processes.
  • Practices and drives continuous improvement as an individual and for the team as a student, leader and practitioner of TPS. Follows TASUS Quality Management System guidelines. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain, engineering, manufacturing, business management or a related discipline strongly preferred.    Experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.  
  • 5+ years’ experience as a Buyer or Purchasing Assistant in manufacturing, preferably in an automotive supplier environment
  • Working knowledge of PPAP, APQP & IATF16949 requirement
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, troubleshooting and customer service abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple, high priority projects with a keen attention to detail.

Physical requirements

  • Standing and sitting for extended periods of time, occasional lifting, pulling and pushing.
