About the Department

Performs intakes with attorneys and clients for services ordered by the courts.  May conduct limited court services under the supervision of the duty caseworker and the Assistant Director such as observed visits in the playroom or party interviews in the office.  Reports findings and observations to the attorneys and the Court.

Position Duties

  1. Reviews orders received from the court for signatures and completeness.  Determines appropriate informational communications for the specific service ordered.  Determines appropriate releases needed.
  2. Meets with attorneys to obtain case history, legal background, status, and the court’s requirements for services.
  3. Meets with clients to obtain background, demographic, and contact information for parties.  Informs clients of requirements for services including orientation and co-parent education.  Provides personal data forms as needed by service type.  Informs and gives direction to clients for payment of services ordered by the court.
  4. Keeps updated chronological entries in the case management system.  Maintains notes and files on assigned cases.
  5. Follows up with clients and attorneys if an in-person meeting has not occurred.
  6. Performs limited court services including observed visits in the playroom.  Reports to attorneys and the court regarding findings and observations.
  7. Assists with Visitation Services on occasion.
  8. Performs all other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a human services field.  

Master’s degree in human services field preferred. 

One (1) year of experience working with children and parents.  

Licensure as a social worker (LMSW, LCSW), professional counselor (LPC), marriage and family therapist, or psychologist preferred. 

Certification in basic and family mediation preferred.  

Must possess proficient verbal and written communication skills.  

Must have interviewing and listening skills.  

Must have ability to establish and maintain effective authority and control over litigants.  

Experience with Microsoft Office programs necessary.  

Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, stand, lift, transport, stoop, grasp, climb, walk and bend.
