We’re Hiring | AGTEK Estimating and Takeoff Specialist (EST Time Zone)
🕒 Experience Level: 5+ years in earthwork takeoff and estimating
📍Location : Remote
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced AGTEK Estimating and Takeoff Specialist to support US-based sitework and civil construction clients. You will own earthwork takeoffs from start to finish: importing plans, building accurate existing and proposed surfaces, producing cut/fill and material quantities, and delivering clean, bid-ready takeoff packages that estimators and project managers can trust.
This is a client-facing production role. You will work directly with US estimating teams during Eastern Time business hours, manage multiple concurrent takeoffs against bid deadlines, and communicate clearly about assumptions, plan discrepancies, and scope gaps.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform complete earthwork and sitework takeoffs using AGTEK (Earthwork 4D, Gradework 4D, Materials 4D or equivalent AGTEK modules)
- Import and scale PDF and CAD plan sets; digitize existing and proposed surfaces, including contours, spot elevations, breaklines, and pads
- Generate accurate cut/fill quantities, stripping, topsoil respread, over-excavation, structural backfill, and subgrade adjustments
- Produce material takeoffs for aggregates, paving, curb, utilities trenching, and erosion control as required by scope
- Build and analyze mass haul diagrams and balance site movements where applicable
- Identify and flag plan conflicts, missing data, and unclear grading information through formal RFI-ready notes
- Prepare clear takeoff deliverables: quantity summaries, marked-up exhibits, surface screenshots, and assumption logs
- Revise takeoffs quickly when addenda or revised plan sets are issued during bid cycles
- Coordinate daily with US-based estimators and project teams over email, Teams/Zoom, and shared trackers
- Maintain organized project files, naming conventions, and version control across all active bids
Required Skills and Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on AGTEK experience performing earthwork takeoffs for US construction projects
- Strong understanding of grading plans, civil drawings, geotechnical reports, and earthwork specifications
- Solid grasp of cut/fill principles, shrink/swell factors, stripping depths, and subgrade modeling
- Proven ability to read and interpret US civil plan sets (site plans, grading and drainage, utility plans, details)
- Proficiency with Bluebeam or similar PDF tools for markups and plan review
- Strong written and spoken English; able to explain takeoff assumptions to US estimators confidently
- Ability and commitment to work full US Eastern Time business hours (approximately 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST)
- Reliable high-speed internet and a professional remote work setup
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SmartDirt, SmartGrade, or AGTEK 3D GPS model preparation
- Exposure to Trimble Business Center, Carlson, or similar civil/survey software
- Experience supporting US sitework contractors, excavation contractors, or heavy civil GCs
- Familiarity with bid workflows: ITBs, addenda management, scope letters, and bid day support
- Background in civil engineering, construction management, or surveying
What Success Looks Like
- Takeoffs delivered on or ahead of bid deadlines with quantity accuracy estimators can rely on
- Assumptions and exclusions documented so clearly that no quantity ever surprises the estimator
- Addenda revisions turned around same day during active bid cycles
- US client teams treat you as an extension of their in-house estimating department
