The company delivers leading-edge multiphase controllers, smart power stages, and point-of-load solutions for high-performance computing applications. Its products focus on robustness, ensuring reliable protection of power rails under fault conditions, and efficiency, minimizing power losses across operating ranges. Reed Semiconductor also emphasizes eco-friendly, fully lead-free and RoHS-compliant solutions, while pushing the limits of power density through proprietary devices, control schemes, topologies, and packaging technologies.
Role Description The Systems and Application Engineer, Power Management role is a full-time, on-site position based in Bengaluru. This role involves designing, validating, and optimizing power management systems using Reed’s multiphase controllers, smart power stages, and related solutions for high-performance computing platforms. The engineer will support customers by providing application guidance, resolving technical issues, and collaborating on system-level design reviews and performance tuning. Daily responsibilities include debugging power delivery paths, analyzing system behavior under various load and fault scenarios, preparing documentation such as application notes and reference designs, and working closely with design, validation, test, and field teams to ensure robust, efficient, and reliable product integration. The position requires pro-active interaction with field teams, customers and also hands-on lab work, including board bring-up, measurements, and evaluation of new devices and control schemes.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with system engineers to generate silicon validation reports for new silicon.
- Developing Evaluation Modules (EVMs) for comprehensive testing.
- Researching and crafting reference schematics based on customer application scenarios.
- Assisting customers in optimizing DC/DC solutions through design reviews and bench validations for successful design outcomes.
- Conducting training sessions for field teams (FAEs) and customers, emphasizing robust design practices for first PCBA success, with optional on-site support during initial bring-up.
- Identifying customer challenges, collecting market feedback, and collaborating with the design/system team to implement improvements in the next generation of DC/DC solutions.
- Write technical documents such Datasheets, Application notes, EVM user’s guide.
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related field.
Preferred qualifications:
- Knowledge of high-density power converter topologies and control methods in power supplies.
- Proven experience or strong understanding of Point-of-Load (POL) converters, E-Fuse, and 48V input (48Vin) power systems is a significant plus.
- Experience in schematic and PCB creation (e.g., Altium, Cadence, or similar tools).
- Familiarity with power stage components selection and thermal management.
Other Qualifications:
- Candidates should possess strong troubleshooting and debugging skills for complex power management and system-level issues.
- Candidates should possess technical support experience, including customer-facing problem resolution and application guidance.
- Candidates should possess programming and software development capabilities for test automation, control algorithms, and data analysis.
- Candidates should possess a solid understanding of power electronics, power delivery architectures, and high-performance computing systems.
- Experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power analyzers, logic analyzers) and board-level bring-up and validation.
- Ability to interpret schematics, layout files, and datasheets, and to create clear technical documentation and application notes.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
