Position Overview:
The Fire & Gas Engineer will play a critical role in the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of fire and gas detection systems across global industrial sites. This role ensures the safety of personnel, assets, and the environment by providing expert advice and technical solutions related to fire and gas hazards. The ideal candidate will work closely with engineering teams, safety managers, and local authorities to implement safety protocols that align with industry standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and Implementation: Design, review, and implement fire and gas detection systems (F&G) for industrial facilities and installations.
Ensure all systems comply with international standards such as NFPA, IEC, ATEX, and relevant local regulations.
Prepare and review technical specifications for fire and gas detection equipment and systems
2. System Installation and Commissioning: Oversee the installation and commissioning of fire and gas detection systems.
Perform system testing, validation, and verification to ensure functionality and reliability.
Coordinate with other engineering teams to integrate F&G systems with broader safety, control, and monitoring systems.
3. Maintenance and Support: Monitor and maintain fire and gas systems for optimal performance and compliance.
Conduct regular inspections, audits, and safety drills to ensure fire and gas protection systems remain operational and meet safety standards.
Provide technical support for troubleshooting, repairs, and upgrades to F&G systems.
4. Compliance and Documentation: Ensure all projects comply with global safety standards, including but not limited to ISO, OHSAS, and NFPA guidelines.
Maintain up-to-date documentation for fire and gas systems, including as-built drawings, maintenance records, and testing logs.
Prepare and review reports for regulatory bodies, as well as internal safety reviews
Key Requirements:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Fire Safety Engineering, Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 3-5+years of experience working with fire and gas detection systems, preferably in the oil & gas, chemical, or energy sector
Experience with system design, commissioning, and maintenance of fire and gas detection systems is essential.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of international fire and gas detection standards (NFPA, IEC, ATEX, etc.).
Familiarity with fire and gas simulation software, such as FLACS or similar.
Proficiency in AutoCAD or other design and simulation tools.
Understanding of hazardous area classifications and protection concepts (e.g., ATEX, IECEx).
Personal Attributes:
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex technical information to diverse audiences.
Willingness to travel globally to project sites.
Working Conditions:
Global travel to various industrial sites may be required.
Occasional site-based work in challenging and remote environments.
Flexible working arrangements, with the option for remote work where applicable.
