Job Purpose
The primary purpose of this role is to ensure the effective operation, stability, and continuous improvement of retail Point of Sale (POS) applications. By providing advanced L3 support, expert troubleshooting, and seamless integration management with backend systems, this role ensures smooth retail transactions and contributes directly to enhanced customer experience.
Job Description
The POS Application Specialist – Level 3 will provide expert-level support for Oracle Retail POS applications and associated retail systems. This role requires strong technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and experience handling complex production issues. The specialist will work closely with L1/L2 support, developers, vendors, and business teams to ensure optimal POS system performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide L3 support and advanced troubleshooting for Oracle Retail POS systems (ORPOS, XStore, Jumpmind POS).
- Manage incidents, perform root cause analysis, and resolve complex POS application issues.
- Support integrations with backend retail systems including Oracle Backoffice, Central Office, RESA (RTLOG), RPM, and RMS.
- Implement patches, upgrades, and configuration changes following defined change management processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support deployments, testing, and production rollout activities.
- Monitor POS application performance, system health, and availability across retail stores.
- Participate in on-call rotations and manage high-priority escalations.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, runbooks, and knowledge base articles.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Job Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- 4–8 years of hands-on experience supporting and troubleshooting retail POS applications.
- Strong experience with ORPOS, XStore, and Jumpmind POS.
Required Skills
- Understanding of integrations with Oracle Backoffice, Central Office, RMS, RPM, RESA/RTLOG.
- Proficiency in SQL and database querying for issue diagnosis.
- Experience with POS hardware peripherals, payment gateway integrations, and retail transaction flows.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management).
- Experience with POS deployments and multi-store rollout activities is highly desirable.
- Exposure to Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
- Strong debugging, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Awareness of PCI DSS compliance requirements for POS systems.
