About The Team And The Role
The Hardware and System Engineering team at Ather is responsible for specifying and productizing various electro-mechanical systems for electric two wheelers and associated charging infrastructure projects.
This role is for a System Engineer who will conceptualize, design, and manage the technical specifications, interactions, and architectures of advanced vehicle and charging subsystems.
Responsibilities
- Conceptualize electronic and electro-mechanical systems like dashboards, vehicle controllers, connectivity modules, lights, switches, sensors, and actuators.
- Translate product requirements into technical specifications for engineering development.
- Own subsystem interactions and manage the hardware and software architecture trade-offs for safety, reliability, durability, and compliance.
- Perform interaction and impact analysis for specification changes and engineering changes.
- Investigate system-level failures, subsystem malfunctions, and conduct root cause analysis (RCA) on field failures to implement CAPA.
- Maximize platform and design resource reuse to reduce time-to-market, cost, and enhance quality.
- Participate in DFMEA, component selection reviews, and regulatory testing compliance such as UL, ARAI, BIS, and IEC standards.
- Execute projects following Agile methodologies and solve complex engineering problems from first principles using data analysis.
Experience And Qualifications
- B.Tech/M.Tech with specialization in any Engineering discipline with a strong mathematical background
- Experience working through at least one complete product development life cycle
Must Have Competencies
- Development of technical specifications and hardware/software architectures for embedded and electro-mechanical systems
- Failure analysis and risk mitigation using DFMEA, root cause analysis (RCA), and impact analysis
- Mathematical modeling and simulation of diverse physical phenomena using tools like MATLAB and SPICE
- Diagnostic troubleshooting of electrical circuits, electromagnetics, and system-level issues such as EMI/EMC
Good to Have Competencies
- Data analysis techniques for system optimization and problem-solving
- Regulatory compliance testing and standards alignment including UL, ARAI, BIS, and IEC
- PCBA interaction management and enclosure packaging optimization considering power dissipation and EMI/EMC
- Thermal design optimization including interface materials selection and thermal simulation
