Job Description- System Architect (EW Systems)
About Us
We are a group of young and enthusiastic engineers, domain experts providing turnkey solutions to challenging requirements in Signal Processing. We work on leading technologies in Signal Processing solving problems in Defence and Aerospace fields. Our solutions range from tactical radios to radars, and from research to mission critical applications.
About the role
As a System Architect, you will own the end-to-end architecture of our Electronic Warfare products — ESM/ELINT receivers with direction finding, emitter geolocation and electronic attack capability. You will translate customer requirements into a coherent system design spanning antennas, RF front ends, digital receivers, signal processing and software, and act as the technical authority across RF, FPGA, software and mechanical teams from concept through qualification and field trials.
Responsibilities
Requirements & System Definition
- Translate customer QRs/GSQRs and specifications into System Requirement Specifications (SRS), architecture documents, ICDs and a requirements verification matrix.
- Define system-level performance budgets: sensitivity, instantaneous bandwidth, dynamic range, probability of intercept, DF accuracy and geolocation error.
- Conduct architecture trade studies covering size, weight, power, cost, performance and risk, and justify design decisions to internal and customer stakeholders.
Hardware/Software Partitioning & Integration
- Partition functionality across RF, RFSoC/FPGA, embedded processors and host software; select ADC/DAC and processing platforms (Zynq RFSoC, Versal).
- Define high-speed data and control interfaces (JESD204, PCIe, 10/40G Ethernet) and the system timing and synchronisation scheme.
- Define antenna, RF front-end and platform interfaces for airborne, naval and ground installations.
- Guide integration across RF, FPGA, software and mechanical teams and resolve cross-domain technical issues.
Verification, Qualification & Reviews
- Define the system test strategy, acceptance test procedures and test-bed requirements in coordination with the system test team.
- Plan MIL-STD-810 (environmental) and MIL-STD-461 (EMI/EMC) qualification, and JSS 55555 where applicable.
- Lead PDR/CDR and technical reviews with DRDO labs, DPSUs, the Services and certification/quality agencies (CEMILAC, DGAQA) as applicable.
- Own architecture-level technical risk and support cost and schedule estimation for proposals and programmes.
- Mentor engineers and set design and documentation standards across the team.
Qualifications
Required
- B.E./B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering or a closely related field.
- 12+ years in EW, ESM/ELINT, radar or SIGINT system development, with at least 4–5 years owning system-level architecture end to end.
- Strong command of receiver architecture and analysis: cascade noise figure, linearity, dynamic range, spur budgets and frequency planning.
- Hands-on knowledge of DF techniques and emitter geolocation.
- Working knowledge of digital receiver and signal processing architectures on FPGA/RFSoC platforms.
- Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink for system modelling and performance analysis.
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461 and JSS 55555, and with the defence design review process (PDR/CDR).
- Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and to produce and defend technical documentation with customers.
- Indian citizen, eligible for security clearance.
Preferred
- M.Tech / M.S. or Ph.D. in RF/Microwave, Communication or Signal Processing.
- Experience delivering to DRDO labs, DPSUs (HAL, BEL) or the Services, or through iDEX programmes.
- Experience with DRFM-based electronic attack systems and false-target generation.
- Exposure to airborne platform integration and airworthiness certification.
Employee status and commitments
- Permanent full-time role based at our Hyderabad office with often onsite client visit.
- Overtime may be required to ensure client projects to be delivered on time.
- Weekend work is rare but can occasionally be necessary.
