Description:
Configures, installs, maintains and upgrades computer systems hardware and software. Administers and maintains security of operating system. Provides operational support for the organization's information systems and peripheral equipment, such as application servers, database servers, web servers, desktops, printers and storage devices. Performs recovery procedures, scheduling and backups, and monitors batch processes. 0-3 years of experience
Key Responsibilities
Server Hardware Operations
Install, rack, stack, cable, and decommission server hardware in lab and data center environments
Perform server bring‑up activities including BIOS, firmware, and hardware configuration
Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware issues related to CPU, memory, disks, RAID controllers, NICs, power supplies, and motherboards
Coordinate with vendors for RMA, part replacement, and warranty support
Maintenance & Monitoring
Perform preventive maintenance and health checks on servers
Upgrade firmware (BIOS, BMC, RAID, NIC) as per approved change process
Monitor hardware alerts and take corrective actions
Maintain spares inventory and track hardware assets
Compliance & Security
Enforce proper handling, storage, and disposal of drives as per compliance requirements
Ensure lab hardware is stored securely and documented accurately
Documentation & Process
Maintain server inventory, configuration records, and asset tracking
Follow EHS, IT, and lab safety standards
Coordinate with cross‑functional teams (IT, Network, Facilities, Vendors)
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of x86 server architecture (Dell, HPE, Supermicro, Lenovo, etc.)
Hands‑on experience with:
CPUs, DIMMs, RAID, NVMe/SAS/SATA drives
BMC/iDRAC/iLO/Redfish
Power and cooling components
Experience with server firmware and BIOS configuration
Good knowledge of Linux(CLI)/Windows server OS installation
Understanding of networking basics (NICs, VLANs, cables)
