Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site position for a System Administrator at NITK, located in Mangaluru. The System Administrator will be responsible for managing and maintaining server infrastructure, ensuring optimal system performance, and providing technical support to faculty, staff, and students. Responsibilities also include troubleshooting system and network issues, administering and monitoring networks, and ensuring the security and integrity of IT systems. The role requires active collaboration with internal teams to implement and optimize IT solutions that support academic and administrative functions effectively.
Qualifications
- Experience in System Administration, including server management, operating systems, and related processes
- Proficiency in Troubleshooting and providing Technical Support to resolve hardware, software, and network issues
- Knowledge of Network Administration, including configuring routers, firewalls, VPNs, and managing LAN/WAN setups
- Expertise in Information Technology processes, tools, and best practices
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse academic environment
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix systems and virtualization technologies is a plus
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Server+, CCNA, or equivalent will be an advantage
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
