Job Summary
The primary responsibilities of the Patient Financial Services Clerk include posting all insurance payments received to patient accounts, client payment posting, and self-pay payment posting. Validate, and correct as needed, auto-posted electronic payments. Separates and monitors files for all insurance companies so readily available for fiscal year end needs.
Essential Job Functions
· Posts accounts receivable insurance money daily in an accurate and timely manner.
· Responsible to make sure that batches are accurate and payments post to the correct account.
· Reconciles bank deposits to the daily receipts and oversees that deposits are completed daily.
· Reviews remittance advices and determines significant problems causing rejection or denial and notifies billing staff.
· Responsible for client billing and shadow billing tasks.
· Distribute claims denials to appropriate biller for review and correction.
· Responsible for reviewing and processing accounts with insurance credits.
· Responsible for ordering department supplies.
· Responsible for submitting services requests to EHR vendor relating to billing.
· Responsible for business office customer service- answers phone, handles patient and staff inquires in a professional and effective manner.
· Receives money on accounts from patients who present to the window and helps answer front window questions.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
· High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
· 3-5 years of health care industry experience, preferred.
· Computer skills including Outlook, Word, and Excel required.
