About the role
Swiss Emmaus India (SEI) is an Indian development organization closely associated with FAIRMED Switzerland. As a non-profit entity, SEI operates under the mandate of "health for the poorest," with a particular emphasis on the eradication of leprosy in India. These initiatives are supported by both international and local donors dedicated to improving the lives of individuals affected by leprosy. Given India's status as a leprosy-endemic country, SEI appeals to a significant number of Indians to support this cause and enhance the quality of life for their fellow citizens.
To further these efforts, the Health Education & Awareness Unit (HEAU) was established in 2008. Its primary goal is to raise awareness and rally support from like-minded individuals for the elimination of leprosy. Over the past 15 years, the HEAU has made significant progress in increasing awareness and garnering support through various fundraising channels, including tele-calling, face-to-face interactions, and school activities.
SEI aims to expand its reach and review its awareness-raising activities to ensure that the Indian populace is well-informed about leprosy and actively participates in making India leprosy-free. In line with our strategic directive for 2025, one of our key focuses is to enhance donor engagement and explore digital marketing avenues. Our website, www.swissemmausindia.org, has updated on 2 earlier occasions, will undergo significant updates to highlight the changes in our core work from the earlier hospital-based support to now more field-based support. In addition, SEI is keen to communicate and engage its wider stakeholder to facilitate better understanding of our work and thereby participation as well.
