Job Title: Program Support Specialist- Portsmouth
Supervisor: Deputy Security Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Work Schedule: Full time (40+ Hours/Week); Shift (4-10’s) or (5-8’s)
POSITION SUMMARY
The Program Support Specialist reports directly to the Deputy Security Manager and is responsible for program-wide support. This section has significant involvement in procedure/plan development, training development, and executing the overall comprehensive self-assessment to evaluate all applicable safeguards and security (S&S) topical areas to determine the overall status of the programs and ensure objectives are met which includes discretion and independent judgement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Required to develop procedures and plans for self-assessment.
- Responsible for being involved in training development and executing the overall comprehensive self-assessment.
- Performs standard S&S program activities such as facility approval, registration of activities, such as facility approval, registration of activities and FOCI program responsibilities and security management in contracting.
- Provides administrative support in the preparation, tracking, reviewing, and submittal of all types of contract required documents.
- Supports other topical areas as a method to conduct cross training activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND KEY COMPETENCIES
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree or appropriate combination of education and experience is preferred.
- Three years of direct safeguards and security experience is preferred.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy “Q” security clearance.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work under limited supervision.
- Completion of DOE National Training Center courses preferred.
TRAINING, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Must be a citizen of the United States and authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a government vehicle.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy “Q” security clearance.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to meet the physical capacity requirements of this position as determined by the Occupational Medical Provider.
- Able to wear company-provided personal protection equipment if/when required.
