The Principal Continuous Improvement Specialist reports to the Senior Program Manager and is responsible for leading advanced problem-solving activities. This role will engage associates at all levels of the organization to help the organization improve quality levels, reduce waste, improve and simplify processes, reduce costs, and improve the overall effectiveness of business processes and operations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

|
The key objective is to support the CI program to drive change that will positively affect the bottom line of the business while delivering optimum performance. The Principal CI Specialist is responsible for facilitating and driving a broad array of CI activities including but not limited to:
- Lead the definition and delivery of large business improvement projects through the application of PQP, DPS and design changes (supplier, product, process, inspection, and/or testing);
- Assist with the definition of potential projects by identifying, quantifying, and comparing potential projects to establish prioritization;
- Analyzes and solves quality problems;
- Mentors' others on and effectively uses of DPS, PQP, statistical analysis and design changes in projects to make improvements;
- Conducting gage and capability studies to establish reliable processes for key features;
- Leads improvement projects that deliver tangible business value;
- Drive improvement efforts to resolve chronic issues, internal and external, to the QMS to ensure consistent cost, quality and delivery;
- Works to secure and lead resources within the organization to complete improvement projects;
- Uses project management techniques and escalates relevant items for steering, help and/or awareness for assigned improvement projects;
- Driving corrective actions to closure. Identifying errors and root cause and subsequently implementing corrective and preventive actions.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
|
|
|
Required:
Experience: 7+ years of experience in a technical field.
Skills/Knowledge:
- Experience leading DPS teams - fact gathering, determining valid root cause, and implementing effective improvements;
- Analytical problem-solving ability to identify issues and apply structured and disciplined methodology to identify root cause using data and implement solutions;
- Innovative and effective solution development, risk mitigation, and execution experience;
- The ability to manage multiple, complex priorities and balance the needs of each according to business impact;
- Strong written, verbal, presentation, and facilitation skills;
- The ability to communicate information - verbally, written - in understandable terms to all levels of the organization;
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills involving interfacing, coordinating, and negotiating with cross functional teams and leadership at all levels to facilitate improvements across the organization;
- A demonstrated ability in applying SPC and PQP principles along with design change;
- Strong skills in problem solving, statistical analysis, manufacturing quality, and quality principles;
- The ability to work independently and be effective in a fast-paced environment;
- ASQ CQE certification or working towards certification.
Preferred:
Education: BS degree in technical discipline
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Belt Certification from renowned CI organization
- Demonstrated success initiating, leading, and closing out DPS and improvement projects
- Experience implementing Error Proofing or Poka-Yoke improvements greatly beneficial
- Experience leading Continuous Improvement DMAIC Projects a bonus
- Metrics and Data Analysis using Minitab
