About the RoleWe are looking for an experienced GPR Survey Engineer / Subsurface Utility Engineer to support transmission line, substation, underground cable, and other power infrastructure projects.
The candidate will be responsible for conducting Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), Electromagnetic Locating (EML), and subsurface utility surveys, interpreting underground conditions, and preparing accurate CAD/GIS-based utility maps and technical reports to support safe and efficient civil execution.
Key Responsibilities🔹 GPR & Field Survey
- Conduct GPR and EML surveys along transmission line RoW, tower foundation locations, substations, and underground cable routes.
- Perform subsurface scanning before excavation, drilling, trenching, or foundation works.
- Detect underground utilities, voids, bedrock, rebar, concrete structures, and other subsurface anomalies.
- Integrate GPR systems with RTK-GPS, Total Station, or other surveying equipment for accurate positioning.
- Carry out field marking/pegging and identify safe excavation zones.
🔹 Data Processing & Interpretation
- Process and interpret GPR B-scan/C-scan radargrams.
- Identify and differentiate underground utilities such as water lines, gas pipelines, fiber-optic cables, electrical cables, and structural elements.
- Calibrate radar signal velocity based on local soil and site conditions.
- Perform noise filtering and validate subsurface findings through field observations and measurements.
🔹 CAD, GIS & Reporting
- Prepare 2D/3D underground utility maps, profiles, and alignment drawings.
- Develop drawings using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, ArcGIS, or similar tools.
- Prepare utility clash-detection reports, clearance documentation, survey reports, and site risk assessments.
- Maintain accurate survey records, coordinates, field data, and processed outputs.
- Follow applicable Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) practices and relevant standards.
🔹 Site & Team Coordination
- Coordinate with civil engineers, survey teams, project managers, site supervisors, excavation teams, and HDD operators.
- Provide technical inputs before excavation and foundation activities.
- Ensure survey equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and ready for field deployment.
- Monitor equipment condition, batteries, antennas, sensors, and accessories.
Required QualificationsEducation
- Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in:
- Civil Engineering
- Geophysics
- Geology
- Surveying
- Geomatics
- or a related discipline
Experience
- 2–5 years of hands-on experience in GPR surveying, utility detection, subsurface investigation, or geophysical surveying.
- Experience in transmission lines, substations, underground cables, power infrastructure, HDD, or EPC projects will be preferred.
Technical Skills
Candidates should have practical knowledge of:
- Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)

- B-scan / C-scan analysis
- AutoCAD / Civil 3D

- Similar GPR processing platforms
Experience with RD8100 / RD8200 or similar cable and pipe locators will be an advantage.
