SMS Mechanical Maintenance is responsible for overseeing preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities of mechanical equipment in the Steel Melting Shop (SMS. to ensure smooth and uninterrupted plant operations. The role involves maintenance of converters, EOT cranes, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, pumps, gearboxes, and other critical equipment while ensuring equipment reliability, safety compliance, and minimum downtime. The position also includes coordinating with operations and maintenance teams, planning shutdown activities, managing manpower, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant efficiency and productivity.

Job Description
The Assistant Manager in Mechanical Maintenance for the Steel Melting Shop (SMS. plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of mechanical systems within the plant. This position is tasked with overseeing the preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of critical mechanical equipment, including converters, EOT cranes, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, pumps, and gearboxes. The role demands a strong focus on equipment reliability, safety compliance, and minimizing downtime to maintain uninterrupted plant operations. The Assistant Manager will coordinate closely with operations and maintenance teams to plan and execute shutdown activities effectively. Additionally, the role involves managing manpower, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and enhancing plant efficiency and productivity. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing maintenance strategies that align with company standards and safety procedures, ensuring the availability of critical spare parts, and maintaining comprehensive maintenance records. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying and resolving equipment issues, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation within the maintenance team.

Manage preventive predictive and breakdown maintenance activities of SMS mechanical equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliabilitybrEnsure the smooth functioning of converters EOT cranes pumps gearboxes hydraulic and pneumatic systems by implementing effective maintenance strategiesbrMonitor equipment performance and implement corrective actions to reduce downtime and enhance operational efficiencybrCoordinate with operations and electrical teams to plan and execute maintenance and shutdown activities seamlesslybrAnalyze recurring equipment failures and implement reliability improvement measures to prevent future occurrencesbrSupervise technicians contractors and maintenance manpower during maintenance work to ensure adherence to safety and quality standardsbrEnsure the availability of critical spare parts and maintain accurate maintenance records and documentationbrFollow safety procedures Total Productive Maintenance TPM practices and company maintenance standards to uphold a safe working environmentbrSupport continuous improvement cost reduction and process optimization initiatives to drive plant efficiency and productivitybrEnsure timely completion of maintenance activities to achieve production targets efficiently and effectively
