Job Description
Engineer – Pilger Production is responsible for managing and optimizing the pilgering process used in seamless tube manufacturing. The role ensures achievement of production targets, adherence to quality standards, process efficiency, equipment reliability, and a safe working environment.
Principal Accountabilities
Plan and execute daily pilger mill operations to achieve production targets ensuring optimal utilization of machines manpower and materialsbrMonitor and analyze production parameters such as reduction ratio feed rate and cycle time to enhance process control and productivitybrImplement continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean and Six Sigma to optimize pilgering process parameters and reduce defects like eccentricity ovality and surface cracksbrEnsure finished tubes meet all dimensional and metallurgical specifications by working closely with QAQC teams to resolve nonconformitiesbrConduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions CAPA to maintain quality assurancebrCoordinate with maintenance teams for preventive and breakdown maintenance troubleshooting pilger mill issues to improve machine uptime and overall equipment effectiveness OEEbrSupervise operators technicians and junior engineers providing training on pilger process safety practices and standard operating procedures SOPsbrEnsure proper shift management and manpower allocation to maintain efficient operationsbrEnforce safety protocols in highpressure rolling operations ensuring compliance with company policies and statutory regulationsbrConduct safety audits and promote a zeroincident culture within the teambrOptimize tool consumption minimize scrap and rework and drive costsaving and productivity improvement initiatives
