Job Purpose/ Summary
To ensure the efficient and reliable operation of all mechanical equipment and systems within the Steel Melting Shop (SMS. by leading maintenance activities, minimizing equipment downtime, and optimizing asset performance. The Senior Engineer is responsible for planning, executing, and improving preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs, ensuring safety, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with quality and operational standards. The role supports continuous improvement initiatives, enhances equipment reliability, and contributes to achieving production targets and plant availability.

Job Description
Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance schedules for mechanical systems and equipment (e.g., converters, ladle furnaces, cranes, gearboxes, pumps, hydraulic systems, etc... Coordinate shutdown and breakdown maintenance activities with production and other departments. Monitor performance and condition of mechanical equipment using predictive tools (vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, etc... Diagnose faults and failures in equipment and lead root cause analysis (RCA.. Implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce equipment downtime and prevent recurrence. Provide technical guidance to maintenance teams during critical repairs. Ensure availability of critical spares and consumables. Coordinate with stores, procurement, and vendors to manage inventory levels efficiently. Maintain maintenance records, equipment history, and breakdown reports. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental norms, and quality standards (e.g., ISO, TPM, OHSAS.. Prepare reports for MTBF, MTTR, and maintenance KPIs. Lead and supervise a team of junior engineers, supervisors, and technicians. Conduct skill development and training programs for the maintenance team. Foster a culture of safety, reliability, and continuous improvement. Participate in capex projects, equipment upgrades, and automation initiatives. Implement reliability improvement and cost-saving projects (e.g., energy saving, equipment modifications..

Develop implement and monitor preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for mechanical equipment in the Steel Melting Shop SMSbrUtilize diagnostic tools and techniques such as vibration analysis thermography and ultrasonic testing to identify potential equipment failuresbrLead mechanical troubleshooting efforts during equipment failures to minimize downtime and ensure swift resolutionbrIdentify root causes of recurring issues and implement corrective and preventive actions CAPA to prevent future occurrencesbrMonitor and analyze equipment performance metrics including Mean Time to Repair MTTR and Mean Time Between Failures MTBF to drive improvementsbrRecommend and implement modifications or upgrades to enhance equipment reliability and reduce maintenance costsbrEnsure the availability of critical spare parts by coordinating with procurement and stores teams to optimize inventory levels and reduce lead timesbrMaintain accurate records of maintenance activities equipment history and failure analysis for continuous improvementbrPrepare and submit daily weekly and monthly maintenance reports to the maintenance head ensuring transparency and accountabilitybrEnforce adherence to safety standards and safe working practices during all maintenance activities to ensure a safe working environmentbrEnsure compliance with internal quality systems such as ISO TPM and OHSAS as well as external auditsbrSupervise and guide a team of technicians and junior engineers providing technical training and support to enhance team skills and efficiencybrPlan and execute mechanical maintenance activities during scheduled plant shutdowns coordinating with operations and other departments for timely executionbrParticipate in continuous improvement initiatives like 5S TPM and Lean Maintenance to drive operational excellencebrIdentify opportunities for cost reduction through innovative solutions and process improvementsbrLiaise with production electrical instrumentation and project teams to ensure effective maintenance executionbrCoordinate with OEMs vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and service support ensuring highquality maintenance outcomes
