Role Overview
We are seeking a Lead Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) with strong expertise in Mechanical Assembly to manage and drive supplier quality performance for Powerbox and Value-Added Assembly/Frames commodities. This role requires end-to-end supplier ownership, cross-functional collaboration with global stakeholders, and execution of continuous improvement initiatives aligned with defined quality metrics.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage assigned local and global suppliers, ensuring performance in quality, delivery, and timelines.
- Evaluate internal and external non-conformances; lead structured problem-solving, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions to eliminate recurrence.
- Drive supplier readiness and compliance through:
- 8D / RCCA
- First Article Inspection
- Process of Record (PPAP approach)
- Supplier deviations and engineering queries
- Conduct supplier assessments (virtual/on-site), manage supplier scorecards, and support supplier qualification processes.
- Review supplier manufacturing processes and identify improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate closely with Supply Chain, Product Group, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to enhance business value.
- Set and execute annual quality goals at supplier level.
- Operate effectively in a high-ownership, result-driven environment from day one.
Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred), or Production, Automotive, or Industrial Engineering.
- Minimum 8 years of experience with Bachelor’s degree. 6 years with Masters.
- Strong background in Supplier Quality Engineering within mechanical manufacturing environments.
Technical RequirementsCore Expertise (Mandatory)
- Extensive hands-on experience in mechanical assembly across domains such as Automotive, Aerospace, Heavy/Light Fabrication, or OEM components.
- Strong understanding of complete assembly systems (not limited to individual sub-components).
Manufacturing & Component Knowledge
- Experience handling complex assemblies incorporating electromechanical elements and fabricated structures.
- Sound knowledge of manufacturing standards related to mechanical assemblies.
Quality & Problem-Solving Tools
- Proficiency in:
- 8D methodology
- 5 Why analysis
- Fishbone (Ishikawa) diagram
- FMEA
- Fault Tree Analysis / DOE (preferred)
- Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and supplier audits.
- SAP or equivalent database system knowledge is an advantage.
Travel & Work Conditions
- Willingness to travel extensively (0–3 days per week), primarily within India for semiconductor-related initiatives, with occasional global travel.
- Flexibility to work in different shifts, including potential S2 shift requirements.
