Own regional tariff and surcharge governance through timely and accurate maintenance of regional tariffs and local surcharges. The role focuses on protecting and optimizing revenue, reducing leakage/negative business, meeting regulatory filing timelines and audit requirements, and supporting revenue related audits and system changes to strengthen pricing integrity.
Revenue Optimization & Surcharge Governance
- Lead quarterly reviews of local surcharges and accessorial charges with regional/area teams using competitive benchmarking and performance analytics.
- Drive pricing and surcharge initiatives: propose actions, coordinate approvals, implement updates, and track adoption and financial impact with a documented action log.
- Ensure tariff updates and required regulatory filings are completed on time, with proper documentation and early escalation of risks.
Tariff Management & Issue Resolution
- Own and maintain regional tariff and surcharge records in core pricing/tariff systems, ensuring accuracy and alignment with commercial decisions and compliance requirements.
- Act as the regional point of contact for tariff/surcharge queries and dispute resolution; coordinate with internal stakeholders and global support teams to investigate, correct, and communicate outcomes.
- Perform periodic tariff reviews and controls to detect inconsistencies, revenue leakage, and non compliance; implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Support revenue related audits by coordinating data requests, providing explanations, and driving closure of findings.
Systems, Testing & Process Improvement
- Support core system changes and upgrades by executing user acceptance testing (UAT), documenting test cases, reporting defects, supporting regression testing, and contributing to sign off readiness.
- Identify process gaps and propose enhancements based on user feedback and operational observations; partner with IT/product teams through defined governance.
Profit Protection / Negative Business Reduction
- Monitor and reduce negative margin business by analyzing pricing and performance reports, identifying root causes, proposing corrective actions (pricing/rules/process fixes), and tracking progress.
Commercial Steering Support
Qualifications - Experience in pricing, revenue management, tariff governance, commercial analytics, or a similar function (preferably in shipping, logistics, transportation, or related industries).
- Strong understanding of tariffs/surcharges and revenue impacting commercial processes (e.g., accessorial charges, detention/demurrage concepts, inland charges, rate agreements, invoicing/booking documentation flows).
- Strong analytical capability, able to interpret data quickly and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
- Comfortable working with data and performance reporting to drive decision making.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills; able to drive alignment across teams with different priorities
- University degree required
