About the role

The Entertainment Manager is a department-lead role that oversees successful delivery of entertainment events for resort guests. The Entertainment Manager is responsible for the department’s programming, administrative, and people management aspects. The Entertainment Manager is the primary resort liaison for visiting crews and clients within the Entertainment Department. The primary venue is the Sun Valley Pavilion, a 1,561 seat Amphitheatre in the resort community of Sun Valley, Idaho. Additionally, the Entertainment Manager is responsible for executing events in the Sun Valley Opera House, après ski and special events at both River Run and Warm Springs Lodges, and resort-wide restaurants.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Book talent, recruit, hire, train, schedule, evaluate, and supervise all pavilion staff, in-resort musicians, and contracted performers.
  • Book and contract all necessary backline, hospitality, security, vendors, and production to execute large scale concerts and music festivals.
  • Manage artist riders and event advances to artists, promoters, third party vendors, and relevant internal departments.
  • Manage front of house during events, including security and ticketing, and have a general knowledge of all aspects of the Sun Valley Pavilion.
  • Ensure that all Sun Valley owned instruments are regularly maintained, tuned, and repaired.
  • Submit check requests and manage payments for all contracted artists and musicians.
  • Build and manage Showpass ticketing for all Sun Valley ticketed events.
  • Develop and contract all events and work with sales team on producing existing customer events, including venue rentals in the Sun Valley Opera House.
  • Provide consistent, high-quality customer service and responds to feedback and concerns in a timely fashion.
  • Work collaboratively with the Technical Director, Director of Recreation, maintenance personnel, sales, grounds staff, all aspects of resort management, and all special groups to ensure coordination of programs and facilities, including adhering to safety procedures and maintenance schedules.
  • Manages conflict resolution within the department and with external vendors and clients.
  • Schedule support employees including front of house, housekeeping, and public area employees.

Qualifications:

  • Four-year college degree preferred
  • 2+ years of entertainment experience  
  • 4+ years in management role
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Engage in physical activities like standing for long periods, walking, and utilizing hands for tasks that involve gripping, handling, and reaching
  • Able to safely move objects up to approximately 40 pounds about the workplace. 
  • Have excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong initiative and the ability to work independently
