Data Engineer


  • Salary Range: $89,648 - $125,507 based on relevant years of experience
  • Location: Fort Collins, Co
  • Status: 40 hours per week
  • Hours: Monday-Friday


Role Overview:

The Data Engineer plays a key role in designing, moving, and organizing data from multiple sources into a secure and reliable data warehouse environment. The role ensures accuracy and consistency across ETL workflows and supports the development of scalable, reusable data models for analytics and reporting. The position contributes to SQL Server performance maintenance, code review practices, and the continued enhancement of data assets, automation tools, and engineering processes that support organizational reporting and analytics.


Essential Duties: 

  • Designs, develops, and maintains data pipelines for extracting, transforming, and loading data from multiple internal and external systems. 
  • Implements and maintains data validation, audit, and monitoring processes to ensure consistency, accuracy, and reliability across data assets and workflows.
  • Develops and maintains data flow, lineage, and system documentation to support analysts, change processes, and automated environments.
  • Creates and maintains data models and structures that support analytics, forecasting, and operational reporting needs, emphasizing scalability and reuse.
  • Maintains and optimizes SQL Server environments, including basic performance tuning, indexing, job scheduling, and backup validation.
  • Assesses data system performance and recommends improvements related to storage, configuration, or workflow efficiency.
  • Reviews database design changes and SQL code developed by team members, ensuring alignment with requirements, quality standards, and performance considerations.
  • Evaluates and integrates new data tools and technologies, including automation and AI-driven components, to enhance scalability, efficiency, and analytic capabilities.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and design practical, efficient solutions that align with organizational needs.
  • Maintains and enhances internal tools, automation assets, and related engineering resources that support analytics workflows and knowledge management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 


Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, or a related technical field required.
  • More than five years of experience in business intelligence, report writing, data management, data analysis, or other data administration functions including collection and distribution is required.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting SQL Server performance and reliability, including indexing, job scheduling, backup validation, and basic configuration troubleshooting.
  • Experience designing and maintaining data models or semantic structures used for analytics, reporting, or operational decision support.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be evaluated and considered.
