About the role
The primary function of the Aluminum Welder is to build products to exact drawing specifications, ensuring quality and efficiency in all fabrication tasks.
What you'll do
- Perform aluminum welding and fabrication on barges, marine equipment, and structural components, ensuring strength and durability.
- Utilize proper tools, materials, and MIG/TIG welding techniques for aluminum and steel applications.
- Cut and prepare raw materials to specified dimensions.
- Repair and reinforce barge and pier components, including decking and structural supports.
- Read and follow blueprints and production drawings accurately.
- Work in both shop and field environments, including outdoor marine settings.
- Follow production schedules and complete tasks on time.
- Track hours and maintain quality standards by inspecting completed work.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
- Report hazards or equipment issues promptly.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Participate in troubleshooting and continuous improvement efforts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1–3 years of welding experience, with a strong preference for aluminum welding.
- Experience with MIG and/or TIG welding (aluminum preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
- Experience with marine equipment, barges, or structural fabrication is a plus.
- Proficient with power tools and fabrication equipment.
- Ability to work in physically demanding and outdoor environments.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or on a team.
- Good communication skills.
