Position Summary
This is a seasonal, hourly position for the 2026 SEAL program.
SEAL is a summer program available to students through invitation only. The program goals are to deepen curiosity, spark joy, build relationships and promote academic growth and learning through project-based curriculum. The educator collaborates with school team members. The position is demanding, varied and complex. The educator must be collaborative, a relationship builder, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be well trained in music content knowledge, and effective and engaging teaching strategies. This position will involve working with all students at a specific SEAL site to provide general music activities during the program.

8:30am - 3:30pm
Previous SEAL Experience Preferred.
The primary purpose of this position is the instruction and supervision of a diverse group of students keeping within the law, board policies, and administrative regulations. A primary focus is the establishment of a positive learning environment that promotes a high level of achievement for all students while considering the background and developmental level of the individual student. Instruction and supervision include student guidance, classroom management, and knowledge in subject areas taught and District and state standards. This is demonstrated by appropriate curriculum design, instructional practices, and student progress assessment.
Essential Functions
Meets the standards of Competent and Ethical Performance as outlined in Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR 584-020-000 to 584-020-0045). The following are examples of principle duties; however, any one position may not cover all duties listed and examples may not cover all duties an employee is expected to perform.
- Effectively works with and responds to people from diverse cultures or backgrounds.
- Cultivates and models a respectful working and learning environment.
- Utilizes effective, proactive behavioral management skills in all school settings.
- Uses current body of knowledge in cultural diversity issues in teaching and curriculum development to design and adapt individual/group academic and behavioral/social programs in all school settings
- Instructs students directly and guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals; establishes clear objectives for all instructional units, projects and lessons to communicate these goals and objectives to all students.
- Implements individual plans (IEP/504/TAG/etc.)
- Diagnoses the instructional needs of all students and prescribes appropriate learning activities for each student.
- Works effectively and collaboratively with diverse student, staff and community populations.
- Works collaboratively with other school personnel (e.g., Title I, regular education, school psychologist specialists, classified staff) in meeting the diverse social and academic needs of all students
- Works with team members to accomplish mutually agreed upon goals.
- Is responsive to feedback from colleagues and administrators and is able to apply feedback to improve skills and services to all students.
- Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student conduct, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom and school in a fair and just manner.
- Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with all students and parents/guardians concerning both the academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
- Strives to improve professional competence through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, classes, and other professional development activities.
- Utilizes computer and software programs as related to job responsibilities.
- Trains and acts as lead worker for Instructional Assistants
- Designs instruction, monitors and provides feedback for Instructional Assistants and be available for problem solving relating to classroom instruction.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and confidential records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
- Follows district and school policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and guidelines, and the provisions of the contract and exercised professional judgment when acting in the absence of a covering guideline or policy.

- Experience differentiating practices for diverse populations.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse students, staff, and community populations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid Oregon teacher's license with the appropriate endorsements.
- Multiple Subjects Self-Contained or Elementary K-12 Endorsement required
- ESOL endorsements preferred.
- Evidence of multi-cultural experience and cultural competency.
- Bilingual proficiency and/or multicultural experience strongly preferred.

Upon offer of employment applicants must obtain a fingerprint clearance from the Oregon State Police Department and the FBI through a process authorized by the Eugene School District 4J. Applicants would be responsible for the one-time fingerprint clearance fee.
