They are seeking a UX/UI Designer to create wireframes and prototypes for infotainment systems and to analyze customer feedback and automotive trends to enhance user experience. Responsibilities: Creates wireframes and prototypes of the graphical user interface (GUI), design interaction, and user experience for infotainment systems, telematics, cluster-meter, and any other input devices relevant to user experience of car ownership. Analyzes customer's comments, organizes and provides U.S. government and industry research data, analyzes automotive trends, works with third-party companies, and develops and implements product and GUI prototypes. Learns dedicated GUI design and user experience (UX) tools. Cooperates with Subaru designers to design materials for GUI. Creates wireframes, mock-ups, and GUI prototypes using dedicated tools for the development of the next-generation infotainment systems, telematics, cluster-meter, and any other input devices. Designs interaction and user experience concepts for infotainment systems, telematics, cluster-meter, and any other input devices relevant to user experience of car ownership. Creates interactive animated screens in order to test screen transitions and usability. Using the latest prototyping tools, assists in sharing multiple flows of the future GUI with collaborators and stakeholders for feedback, ideas, testing, and design iterations. Conducts trend exploration of in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) and market as well as other investigative research from a future perspective and reflects survey results in the next-generation car in order to improve product capabilities. Plans, coordinates, and directs the preparation of reports, surveys, and research information, including in-house-rapid-prototyping, and analyzes data to direct future efforts. Reports opinions and interpretations based upon engineering and designing knowledge and experience. Exercises foresight. Coordinates various research programs and driving tests requested by Subaru Corporation (SBR) and North American Subaru, Inc. Research & Development (NASI R&D); this includes gathering research/intelligence on competitive products. Suggests modifications of methods to the project members. Identifies Subaru's strengths (and how to exploit them), Subaru's weaknesses (and how to overcome them), and competitor's strengths and weaknesses (and how to take advantage of them). Utilizes ability to learn a system and understand how a consumer will use the technology. Research new design tools and their capabilities. Participates in training to learn new tools and practices using them to enhance skills. Reports all irregular issues and problems to supervisor for resolution. Maintains a clean and safe working area. Leads visitors or information by attending meetings and conferences and reading industry journals as well as talking to contacts in other companies. Research competitive fleet vehicles for Japan and North America use. Effectively interfaces with a team through verbal and written communication. Observes and maintains all safety regulations and procedures as needed. May train other employees in proper techniques and procedures. Maintains good communication both inside and outside the company. Performs special projects and other miscellaneous duties as assigned by management. Qualification: At least one (1) to three (3) years of previous graphical user interface (GUI)/human-machine interface (HMI) design experience in industrial companies. Must have a valid driver's license to evaluate some vehicles. Ability to think analytically and conceptually using logic and reason; creative and strategic skills. Interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills. Computer savvy; skilled in the use of software. Ability to learn a new system and understand how a consumer will use the technology. At least 2 to 4 years' experience with a bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of degree. Preferred: Ability to judge and describe automobile performance both subjectively and in engineering terminology. Specialist skills / learning attitude in automobile evaluation. Ability to evaluate aspects of an automobile as an expert customer.
